Come on SBG you know how the forum works by nowThis is starting to get embarrassing.
I’m not one to shit on people’s ideas but come on.
We drew a match of football. We defend well (which was our problem last year) and had decent xG just lacked the cutting edge.
If we are on ten points in nine games time, I’ll agree there’s concern there but can we not become Watford and back the head coach for more than 90 minutes
It seems Simms and Bassette are being ushered towards the exit, hopefully someone bites.Yeah but this is the problem with the model atm. We sell to recruit but I don’t think we can afford to have five strikers on the books and I doubt there’s a large que atm for the prices wanted.
Ideally you’d just cut our losses with one of them to open the squad space as I maintain if you got a Salech type you’d see a difference in efficiency
I'm not disagreeing with you, i've been saying all summer we're looking at quality and its harder to get done. I just hope we haven't overplayed our hand and end up stuck with the same issues all over again. That might be the case. But that happens to every club. I'd rather we risked missing out by focusing on genuine upgrades Vs filling the squad with deadwood. The fact that they bid 7mn+ for the best young defender in the Championship tells me that they are focused on quality and options not discussed here.
Seems obvious to me to allow players to play in their natural positions. This is when they thrive, but FL seems to stubbornly persist in playing Wright as a CF which he’s not. The Sunderland 3-0 game was an exception in spite of the fact Wrught had a hat trick. Sunderland weren’t really bothered that day.
The other problem we still have is not being able to unlock teams playing a low block and this overreliance on crosses/ long throws instead of mixing up our playing style.
Footy stats is a very good website for this and imo is the best to use in game analysis .
On the second point, while 1.4 isn’t a ridiculous high XG, its still reflects that we on averages of the chances made should have scored. When you compare it to the rest of the league, its a decent starting point imo and while we missed the cutting edge, you’d think we’d of lost 4 - 1 based on some posts
So if you ignore a load of wins, then his win % isn't very good?
You’re really down in the dumpsIt’s more his win % isn’t consistent and he’s had more bad than good. It’s just his good was very good. If you think we’re can repeat a once in a generation feat every season then fine. We’ll see I guess.
What’s ironic is it’s the same people that rate certain strikers because they had a purple patch 2 seasons ago.I mean this is beyond ridiculous. The winning streak is now a “freak” run. No. It was just games we won. Remember where we were when Lampard came in. He’s still trying to clear out some of the bizarre signings he inherited to rebuild the squad and that takes time.
You’re really down in the dumps
Everything ok?
He did last season and play offs is the best you can hope for given the parachute paymentsIm good. Just disappointed in the summer, worry King has got the wrong impression about always making millions on players and left us with a squad full of deadwood we can’t shift and Lampard needs better than this because he’s not going to get more than the sum of his parts.
We've become a poor man's Man Utd. Lots of dead wood that no one wants but with no money to buy anything decent.Im good. You've got to wonder, are Simms and Basettes happy to sit on the bench and take their wages or have they both got their agents working overtime pushing for a move? Let's hope at least one or the other has a great agents that can pull a rabbit out of a hat and quickly! It seems Simms and Bassette are being ushered towards the exit, hopefully someone bites.
Salech was also my choice from the recently relegated players list, i'm sure there are other good options out there too.

Watched the extended highlights back. As I thought at the time, we played some great stuff in the 1st half. The Sakamoto shot, 2 near chances for Rudoni, the BTA penalty shout. Should, and deserved to have been 1-0 up at HT. Started 2nd half well too, with the MVE shot. Then the last 30 mins went off a little. Although we did lose EMC to a niggle and Sheaf hobbled off after 6 mins. That would of disrupted the plan. Disappointed we didn't win, but happy with performance. There's obviously some people who didn't watch us at Stoke last season.I agree that people have overreacted to a 0-0 draw I think it's hangover from the play offs and that we need to settle into the new season .
Ha, you got me on that! We've become a poor man's Man Utd. Lots of dead wood that no one wants but with no money to buy anything decent.
Said it at the start of the window, but the idea was dismissed. He’s a shithouse but for the specific football we play. Morris holds the ball up and would get on the end of crosses
I disagree, I dont think it is a hangover. Last season, we were a nearly team, thus far, we've not improved any area of the pitch. Aside from cover at RB, but then it seems MVE is leaving, so we'll be back to 1 player at RB again.I agree that people have overreacted to a 0-0 draw I think it's hangover from the play offs and that we need to settle into the new season .
Newcastle in talks to sign Jacob Ramsey. Looks like we're safe from an NUFC Rudoni bid.
Same tedious football too. We've become a poor man's Man Utd. Lots of dead wood that no one wants but with no money to buy anything decent.
the crossing tactics were a plan b or cHe’s played under some of the world’s greatest managers …. He will know more about tactical changes and winning formations that we will ever know. He’s also human and will get things wrong.
Pep is the world’s greatest ever manager. Where was his plan B when City were struggling last season ??
I agree with you about FIFA and football manager digs but Stoke needed 8 players. We don't. Our team is strong and just needs few additionsRobins has signed 8 at Stoke. Such a keyboard manager he is, sat on FM2024! No clue at all that Robins bloke.

We've tread water. The nearly team has stood still. Yes, it's good we've (so far) kept hold of our best players. But tell me, where exactly have we improved this summer?
GK, a loan and Wilson competing from last season, when fit, Dovin and Wilson. No improvement.
Defence. Cover for RB (maybe a replacement, time will tell), and a 3rd choice LB.
Midfield and forwards the same!
Aside from RB we've strengthened nowhere on the pitch. And that's really concerning. Although I think the top 2 spots (or at least 1 of) will be up for grabs this season, i think getting in to and winning the play-offs will be harder with more competition. And we've not improved to deal with that. I'd love to be wrong, but we can't keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. We need 2 or 3 marquee signings before the close of play

I forgot that no players ever improve. You're right. Midtable obscurity.
Not to mention the transfer window isn't over.
Everyday I look on this thread in the hope of actual news of a signing. Everyday I’m disappointed
New manager bounce peters out?3 wins in the last 11 at the minute. Thats every game since the freak run. For me he needs to start turning in some results.
From memory I don't remember there being many goals from Haji where he's cut in and scored?Personally think more of an argument for getting a better striker is that Haji is arguably better playing out wide on the left where he can cut inside, seems way more natural to him, that way we can have LW competition and ST competition. Imagine playing Haji and a quality striker, EMC is there for backup to Haji and Simms/BTA is there for backup to the new striker. Whether Lampard wants to play that way is another thing but personally I think moving Haji wide and brining in a quality striker gives us some real depth and attacking power.
Doesnt matter if you feel its his natural position though does it, because both he and his manager are saying he’s a centre forward and he’ll be playing through the middle.Yeah exactly, I really do think pushing Haji out wide on the left and bringing in a new quality striker solves a lot of problems. We then have Haji in what I feel is his natural position, we buy in a striker that can actually score goals, and it also provides depth to the LW spot which is currently depthless. Currently if either EMC or Haji gets injured we’re back to playing either Asante or Simms as striker (I assume Haji will go LW if EMC gets injured). We shouldn’t be in this situation of having to play a shit striker any time one of our left wingers or strikers gets injured. Can’t see many negatives from pushing Haji out wide really
