Lets be honest in an ideal window we still get rid of

Collins
Bidwell
Allen
Simms/BTA
Lati

and get in 2 CB's, a RW, a ST, a CM

but i cant see that.

The MVE situation seems really weird. At the moment I can see him staying, but then the KKH signing makes 0 sense.
There is still time, but if the window were to close as it is, you'd have to say it's weird as fuck.

Be careful..... 8 signings? Ive been likened to Football Manager for suggesting this as a perfect window. Get yourself back on fifa pal!

Thats in an ideal world. I appreciate with this owner and the way hes running us that was never going to happen.

I know, i fully understand your point and I'm I'm 100% with you. Hence why I put 3 wishlists back up the thread somewhere. I was also likened to Football Manager for doing so.

1 would be a good window and see us bring in a CH and a ST. (On top of keeping Rudi and Hadji and the 3 we've already signed)

Another would be a great window and adding a LW and RB cover for KKH should MVE leave.

The 3rd being a perfect window and lose all the deadwood you've mentioned plus 2xCH, CM, LW and a ST.

I'm fully aware we're closer to option 1 than either option 2 or 3. But in reality, we need option 3 if were ever going to get promoted AND make a fist of staying up.

This is the thing.

Yes last year was a great season by Frank, but it was clear there were a couple of deficiencies.

Following the Portsmouth game for example, the common consensus was "this isn't Franks squad therefore we can't be too critical" now its "we finished 5th we dont need many players"

It was quite clear that players like Bidwell, Allen, Collins aren't up to standard, and an injury or so and they are back in the starting line up.

In my opinion we should have struck whilst the iron is hot and improved the squad in those backup positions. At the moment im not sure our depth is much much better than it was, and I'm conscious if things go pear shaped we will still say "this isn't franks squad"

Doesnt matter if you feel it’s his natural position though does it, because both he and his manager are saying he’s a centre forward and he’ll be playing through the middle.

I doubt he chooses where he plays tbf, it’s all down to Lampard as to how the team sets up. I’m clearly not a manager and I don’t know what’s best for the team as a whole, but the one thing I can’t help but feel is right is for Haji to play out wide. It frees up a striker spot allowing us to get a better striker in, whilst at the same time making the LW area more competitive. Bringing off Haji at 65 mins only to bring on EMC should make us see out games better.

It cant have escaped Doug who goes to all the matches that our strikers aren't delivering. Just hope to god that he has a plan or irons in the fire to help Frank out as it seems 10 months of elite coaching hasn't improved them

As fans we literally cannot do anymore. We all buy ST's in record numbers

Same with kits and merch, same with other things the club does

Cant bang on about a 5 year plan, yet literally have the same 11 as last year that failed (bar the keeper) whilst also looking at sites for stadiums

Doesnt sit right with me at the moment, hopefully its remedied soon

I think hes hoping to get the stadium for the club to be a more attractive sale.

He's not too concerned about getting promoted.

I tend to agree with those who think that Haji is better on the left but it’s important to look at the overall picture.

With him at LW we have to play BTA or Simms in the middle, which few of us are encouraged by. If we play Haji as a central forward we have EMC on the left, which I think is better.

Obviously this all changes if we can get a decent central striker in.

I think we have to trust the process. Doug and Frank aren’t stupid whatever way we cut it.

I get totally what you are saying and many agree with you but we can only judge on results. If we keep the same team and win lots of games then no one will moan so it’s all relative.

maybe give it to the international break first week of September as we would have had 4 games and end of the transfer window then.

I’ve a question about xG. Against Hull Torp had more or less a clean shot fall nicely for him, but BTA with his back to goal carried on faffing and took it off Torp’s toe pretty much. Does the xG go 0.high or 0.low because BTA is still technically in possession of the ball?

Would be 0xG, convinced it would have been a goal if BTA had left it. Saw a video the other day of someone taking it around the keeper, started celebrating as he was walking it in, got tackled a yard out and it generated 0xG.

Yeah I think even with poor connection with the ball he probably buries it.

Maybe give it until the end of Nov before being negative after all people said King was wrong to fire Robins 3 months into the season.

In my humble opinion, Wright on the left and simms down the middle with the right service I think gets us goals. That’s as good as having 2 up front.
And most of simms goals are just 1 touch in the box instinctive finishes.
He’s also clearly a confidence player - thing is the only way to build that is for him to play.
i hope he starts tonight and gets a goal or two.

saying that we clearly need another striker - if Norm is on his way then we need 4. Competition and variety.

How's the plan going of getting into the play offs 3 times.

We have the same 11 that got us there.

We dont need a better striker than Haji to play CF.
We need to consistently play him in the position he wants to play, and have a stronger back up / different option to come off the bench or when he needs resting / is suspended / is injured.
He is our record signing for a reason, not to mention HE IS A FUCKING CF.

The obsession with Haji on the left is fucking mind boggling and it all spans from people seeing him on the ball more in a game and thinking its “effective”
We need him in the box finishing chances, not creating them for someone else.

Stop square pegging players we do have to create round holes for players we dont have.

The style of play on Saturday was not the issue. First half we created a few chances through the middle that a combination of good defending and poor finishing cost us, second half we started crossing more when Hull were more compact. Our main CF isn't fit after missing pre season, we looked more solid at the back which was the main weakness last season.
We've been linked with big money moves for a CB. People are just bored because the leaks have stopped and there's nothing to gossip about, 3 weeks left, chill out, we'll sign someone

Honestly the amount of people who think "strengthening" is just about buying new players, I see where the FM insults come from tbh

How else do you strengthen without buying new players and replacing the ones that aren't good enough for your squad anymore?
