Unfortunately we’re probably going to be stuck with our strikers because inevitably there’s not going to be much of any interest in them.
Someone bought Luis Binks. Maybe Brondby think BTA can tear it up in Denmark.

So you're saying Allen, Collins, Wilson, Lati, Bidwell, JDS, BTA, Simms, and Eccles are all good enough for a team wanting to push for promotion and/or survive relegation in the PL?
Add to that Mr Cant Stay fit for 7mins, Mr Good when he can be bothered Wright, and ok in patches EMC.

But I'm unrealistic for wanting better versions/replacements for them? I'm not suggesting its done this window, but as it stands, a now 3rd choice LB, a RB (that will get minimal game time if we keep out pricing MVE and he stays) and a GK on loan (granted he was desperately needed) when all of the above need upgrades and moving on? We were 3rd best, after Xmas, but that wasnt when it counted. That wasnt the business end. It was at the business end when these players didnt stand up and be counted. And if we dont address at least 2 or 3 of those issues, we'll still be sat here this time next season, in the championship having the same arguments.

Was it Einstein that said the definition of a fool is somebody that does the same thing over and over and expects different results? Well, at 1230 on Saturday, all bar Rushworth in goal, our fool did the same thing that failed last season. And unless we get 2 or 3 marquee signings before the window closes, dont be shocked if we get the same outcome as last season. Apart from GK (and that's only temporary), we haven't strengthened a single area on the pitch. RB if MVE goes is much a muchness for KKH, and Brau is currently 3rd choice LB. So where have we strengthened/improved this summer? Nowhere.

You’ve done a fair bit of over-inferring from what I said mate but I take your point. Note I don’t mean we’re necessarily ‘ok’ if we finish like this - see my earlier post re: window having three weeks to run - just that we hardly have a barebones/proven poor squad in the Championship. And that it’s obvious why Stoke have done more business than us.

Likewise, I haven't said we NEED 9 signings and I also think we have a semi-capable squad. This all started with me putting together 3 wish lists.

1st, being a good window and adding to the 3 we've already signed + 1CH and 1ST. Pretty realistic and not overstretching imho.

The second being, a great window and bringing in a few more. I think i said 2xCh a LW and a ST iirc.

And the 3rd being a PERFECT window and cutting off all the deadwood and bringing in 8 or 9 better options to replace them with.

For putting out my 3 options (knowing full well we'll end this window closer to the "good" than either of the other 2) I was mocked as a "football manager" player and that this was real life.

Some of the shite spouted on here is just mind blowing.

Like the clinging on to the only international cap he’ll ever get, on the pitch for seconds, all because the U21’s had no intention of playing him because he was down the pecking order with them too?

Why are some panicking 😂same squad was 4th top scorers in the league, we didn’t get past Sunderland because we couldn’t defend, we’ve addressed that, and will prob bring a CH in the next 3 weeks,

Most of us are getting twitchy because we've hardly moved the squad on from last year. The starting XI on Sat was last seasons squad players plus a loan keeper.

Yes we finished 5th, but the cracks that were showing last season have (up to now) not been addressed. Most of our presumed rivals have strengthened in numbers. Its obvious we desperately need a striker and a centre half, lets hope we can do some business in the next 3 weeks.

If not, it will just feel like we've gone backwards.

That's a brave statement about a player with a 10+ year career ahead of him.

It never ceases to amaze ne how some fuckers call themselves fans, but love to see our young players fail.

the vardy rumour has come from someone inside the club who works with the corporate team

was seen at the ground today
Even though I'm sure it's nonsense, were it to happen the reveal surely has to be

Don’t love to. Just right to call it from game one 🤷‍♂️

Robins has signed 8 at Stoke. Such a keyboard manager he is, sat on FM2024! No clue at all that Robins bloke.

Stoke barely scraped staying in the league, they needed an entire new squad.
We finished 5th after a shit start and lost in the play offs in extra time. We dont need to sign 8.

(is the rationale argument)

We needed a few key additions, keep our assets, offload some deadwood.

So far, with 3 weeks left, we’ve kept assets, strengthened at GK and RB, and offloaded Binks.
Everyone needs to calm down and acknowledge the leaks arent appearing, noone is in the know, but the soundbites we’ve had from the club is that they are trying to do business.

It was a bit weird how Bassette was first choice striker for quite a while then just dropped out the team and was barely seen again.

He started 7 out of Lampard's first 10 games, obviously Wright was injured but he kept getting picked ahead of Simms and BTA.

He didn't do a lot during those games and it was a bit strange that Lampard kept picking him. He obviously sees some talent in him.

Then he barely got a kick for the rest of the season, now he's behind Obikwu.

EMC is right footed and Saka left, how about playing them on the opposite wings? Weird idea I know
I get that they are wide strikers rather than old fashioned wingers, and it can make sense to be able to cut inside onto your better foot. But occasionally swapping sides during games would surely be worth trying. I don't buy the idea that they aren't capable of it.

We do know.
First it was because he couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo and then his attitude changed in training - If you read between the lines.

Personally think more of an argument for getting a better striker is that Haji is arguably better playing out wide on the left where he can cut inside, seems way more natural to him, that way we can have LW competition and ST competition. Imagine playing Haji and a quality striker, EMC is there for backup to Haji and Simms/BTA is there for backup to the new striker. Whether Lampard wants to play that way is another thing but personally I think moving Haji wide and brining in a quality striker gives us some real depth and attacking power.
Seems obvious to me to allow players to play in their natural positions. This is when they thrive, but FL seems to stubbornly persist in playing Wright as a CF which he’s not. The Sunderland 3-0 game was an exception in spite of the fact Wrught had a hat trick. Sunderland weren’t really bothered that day.

The other problem we still have is not being able to unlock teams playing a low block and this overreliance on crosses/ long throws instead of mixing up our playing style.

When I was watching Lampard videos to try and convince myself he wasn’t awful literally the only attacking tactic he talked about was 5 up front and lots of crosses. I know he’s supposed to be smart for a footballer but I honestly don’t think he knows any other way.

He’s played under some of the world’s greatest managers …. He will know more about tactical changes and winning formations that we will ever know. He’s also human and will get things wrong.

Pep is the world’s greatest ever manager. Where was his plan B when City were struggling last season ??

So did Rooney. Playing under a good manager doesn’t make you a good manager.

I’ll believe he knows about tactics when he shows it and so far he’s had one not particularly effective tactic since he started.

Let’s be honest at teams like Chelsea and Man City tactics aren’t relevant for 99% of games as you’ll steamroller them on quality. I actually think it’s probably the worst place to play for a tactical education. A lot of players who played in these sorts of teams and become manager haven’t a clue what to do if they don’t overpower the opposition. Lampard seems like that.

Since he came in he's got more points than any other manager in the division. Give the geezer a chance ffs 😆
Doug needs to back him, he inherited an incredibly unbalanced squad with some absolute dog shit strikers. Any manager would want the chance to bring in some players of their own choosing.
Over to you Mr King, we have 3 more weeks.

Not to do this again but is that true outside of the winning streak because it feels like he’s been shit but then had a nine game worldie run the one time he was forced away from his chosen tactics.

All things considered, a win percentage of 48% is very good.

How would you have preferred it went?

Well not losing in the playoffs would have been nice but we went into it having won’t 3 in 9 or something and played two of the most tactically inept matches I’ve ever seen.

What I’m saying is that 30% is a more common win percentage than 90% as he’s had twenty games at the former and ten at the latter. For me he needs to start showing pretty quick he can manage a football team and not just stick them on the pitch and hope for the best. The great irony is he’s got Ellis Simms and BTA to thank for that run an he absolutely refuses to repeat it.

The away form fell away but the home form remained strong throughout, the home form which had become a complete embarrassment before he came in and had people even on here saying there was no vibe and they weren't even feeling it anymore might i add. Home form is important, not only for farming points but its where most of your paying support sees you and what keeps them coming back... anyway regardless of what order the points came in, getting us into the playoffs was a good achievement and doesn't deserve a complete slap down after a draw against Hull.

Lampard is not untouchable for me, if he goes to shit, he goes to shit and pays the price like all managers. I'm having my first issue with him right now in that i still think Wright is better on the left and he seems to have disregarded it, but overall there's no denying he's done a good job and frankly even if he'd done a far more mediocre job, any new manager deserves a chance to bring in some of their own players. It's on King to back him now.

Frustrating as Saturday was some of the comments are comical. We scored 4th highest last year and we’ve not just got Lampard but what is considered to be decent coaching staff. They’ve turned Rudi into a 20m+ player and Dasilva into a competent LB for starters. We bossed Sunderland in play off semis and only lost because of a mistake (MvE) and missed chances (very poor individual performance by possibly our best player - Wright)

Just because Lampard doesn’t win one lose one consistently over the season his win percentage doesn’t seem to count…FFS 😂

I’ll judge 10+ games in and once windows closed
