Well not losing in the playoffs would have been nice but we went into it having won’t 3 in 9 or something and played two of the most tactically inept matches I’ve ever seen.

What I’m saying is that 30% is a more common win percentage than 90% as he’s had twenty games at the former and ten at the latter. For me he needs to start showing pretty quick he can manage a football team and not just stick them on the pitch and hope for the best. The great irony is he’s got Ellis Simms and BTA to thank for that run an he absolutely refuses to repeat it.

The away form fell away but the home form remained strong throughout, the home form which had become a complete embarrassment before he came in and had people even on here saying there was no vibe and they weren't even feeling it anymore might i add. Home form is important, not only for farming points but its where most of your paying support sees you and what keeps them coming back... anyway regardless of what order the points came in, getting us into the playoffs was a good achievement and doesn't deserve a complete slap down after a draw against Hull.

Lampard is not untouchable for me, if he goes to shit, he goes to shit and pays the price like all managers. I'm having my first issue with him right now in that i still think Wright is better on the left and he seems to have disregarded it, but overall there's no denying he's done a good job and frankly even if he'd done a far more mediocre job, any new manager deserves a chance to bring in some of their own players. It's on King to back him now.

Frustrating as Saturday was some of the comments are comical. We scored 4th highest last year and we’ve not just got Lampard but what is considered to be decent coaching staff. They’ve turned Rudi into a 20m+ player and Dasilva into a competent LB for starters. We bossed Sunderland in play off semis and only lost because of a mistake (MvE) and missed chances (very poor individual performance by possibly our best player - Wright)

Just because Lampard doesn’t win one lose one consistently over the season his win percentage doesn’t seem to count…FFS

I’ll judge 10+ games in and once windows closed

This is absurd as some of the 'Robins out' stuff that people were posting last autumn just because we weren't taking teams to the cleaners every week.

It's an incredibly competitive league, and I for one don't expect us to breeze through many of our matches.

3 wins in the last 11 at the minute. Thats every game since the freak run. For me he needs to start turning in some results.

Neither do I. It’s why I want a manager who isn’t just window dressing.

His run gets him some credit in the bank but for me it’s running low again after the end of last season and the start of this. Jury very much still out. If he lasts the season here it’ll be his first since the first Chelsea job so that’ll be something.

I've had your side on a lot of debates this summer but to be honest i still think you just don't like Lampard so your mind is already made up on him regardless of what he does.

This is starting to get embarrassing.

I’m not one to shit on people’s ideas but come on.

We drew a match of football. We defend well (which was our problem last year) and had decent xG just lacked the cutting edge.

If we are on ten points in nine games time, I’ll agree there’s concern there but can we not become Watford and back the head coach for more than 90 minutes

0.87 is not a decent xG.

I agree that there is a lot of hyperbole on here after 1 match, but it was a poor performance that I'm sure we will improve upon.

We just lacked a cutting edge but i'm more annoyed at the recruitment side as anyone who didn't know that already hasn't been paying attention. He's been left with some slop, especially up front, and it needs addressing asap.

I think most teams in our league would love to have Wright, Simms and Asante a 3 striking options tbh

It’s a hard choice though as if we purely looking at stats, the defence was the issue last year as we created the second highest chances.

I have said though, we don’t have the strikers for the system and Lampard doesn’t seem to adapt the system to fit the players

It's hard though. We have to recruit to make us better. Which means we're shopping in a different pool imo. Would rather they take their time and get the right people in that represent an upgrade Vs just numbers

Not disagreeing but it's the same system and same players that got us to the playoffs after a horrendous start. So it's not fundamentally broken

I don't know what you are basing them not being the best source for it on? I highly doubt there are more then a couple of sources who feed most websites. But if you say so I can't argue as I don't know.

Even if you take the average of around 1.0 it still doesn't suggest much in terms of chance creation when Hull sat back for 80 minutes.

Well yeh he needs the opportunity to bring in a striker that would suit the way he wants to play. I don't think its either/or, we should absolutely be looking at the defence too. It would be totally normal for a new manager to be allowed to bring in at least 3 more new faces this summer.

Footy stats is a very good website for this and imo is the best to use in game analysis .

On the second point, while 1.4 isn’t a ridiculous high XG, its still reflects that we on averages of the chances made should have scored. When you compare it to the rest of the league, its a decent starting point imo and while we missed the cutting edge, you’d think we’d of lost 4 - 1 based on some posts

I agree, I guess i should save judgement on the recruitment until the window is done. The longer it goes on you can't help but get the bad feeling about missing out on targets though.

I’ve never understood why we should save our judgment until the window is done. Does that mean we shouldn’t judge the season until it’s over as well? Might as well shut the site down. It’s perfectly okay to discuss the window as it’s happening it’s just the Kingdom desperately trying to stop any criticism

Yeah but this is the problem with the model atm. We sell to recruit but I don’t think we can afford to have five strikers on the books and I doubt there’s a large que atm for the prices wanted.

Ideally you’d just cut our losses with one of them to open the squad space as I maintain if you got a Salech type you’d see a difference in efficiency

That might be the case. But that happens to every club. I'd rather we risked missing out by focusing on genuine upgrades Vs filling the squad with deadwood. The fact that they bid 7mn+ for the best young defender in the Championship tells me that they are focused on quality and options not discussed here.

According to FotMob:

1.43 xg and 0.43 xga

I take a lot of heart from our defense/GK in this game. Don’t forget we were leaking goals for fun last season. This will only get better if we improve our CB and CF options this window.

And I would be amazed if that isn't an opinion shared by the management team. No Simms again at the weekend, preferred to bring on Wright through the middle and shift BTA left, no Basette at all. Speaks volumes. Would expect at least a loan or two out there.

I mean this is beyond ridiculous. The winning streak is now a “freak” run. No. It was just games we won. Remember where we were when Lampard came in. He’s still trying to clear out some of the bizarre signings he inherited to rebuild the squad and that takes time.

they're not going to be bringing vast quantities of high quality in. The strategy is to bring in three upgrades is my guess. One of which we know about and others rumoured (Travis, Fanne, Bertaccini)
