I don't think we should sign him at all and I think he probably is a bit of a twat.

Mental health issues can absolutely make you do things that a sane person would write off out of hand though. This sort of attitude is why more people don't speak up as they are ashamed of the bad things they've done and don't want to be shunned.

I literally have spoken up many times about my mental health issues.

i dont think parks was saying dont sign him because of mental health. agree hes made some silly choices so far, hes young and prob easily midguided. if he can get through that, he could be a real signing for someone

I wasn't, just saying he seems to struggle to settle anywhere he goes. Before he might have been a shrewd signing, now we can sign quality without the baggage.

Latest link to back up the idea our entire summer scouting is based entirely on club's end of season awards last season...

There's a bit of chatter again online over Doyle.

Maybe looking at Doyle as a back up in case Hughes isn't affordable. Which I wouldn't necessarily be a fan of.

Or Doyle loan with option to buy on promotion?
talk from actual journalists?

I put Doyle firmly in the ‘ex-player clamour’ pot. See: Franck Moussa.

Fans go all in on wanting them based on the simple fact they’ve seen them before.

Doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be good, but it’s painful. There are other footballers out there - and believe it or not, even some of the ones you haven’t seen are actually ok!

Hughes is an interesting talent and one which has very good leader attributes. Something maybe Lampard has indicated to Doug and to stick to the 'model' having a leader from someone younger who can still develop rather than highly experienced like Doyle or a Fadz like replacement.

That Cov Pod released yesterday absolutely hints that we’ve spoken to Doyle (or his agent) on a couple of occasions.
The thing is Man City would sell with an option of a buy back for cheap.

Most academies now do this and it prevents a significant profit for the buying club. See Trafford and Quansah in the prem for examples.

Hence why I am against Doyle. Good player but for the price it's not really worth it.

I read over the summer that Real Madrid do this for all their young players that aren't going into the first team instead of agreeing to loans as it looks their PSR calcs look a lot better

So it's a good tactic for them but not us,makes sense if you're an elite club by spreading the pain lower in the chain and by doing so keeping us there (?

Doyle was good for us but he played on the left of a back three and has been played predominantly at left back since. Hughes the better option for a back four and much better in the air
