And we could have finished 7th last game of the season not great for a team hoping to get promoted ?

I think Lampard wants us to start fast this season so can see us in the mix all season . Couple of decent signings , few scrappy wins a bit of luck here and there and who knows but we will be in the top 6 again this season hopefully top 2

We‘ll def be top 6, hopefully Not scraping that’s the frustrating bit, we’re genuinely 2 signings away from being very good, pretty sure we’ll get at least one more

I don't think we'll see any permanent forward signing while we've got 4 on the books , think we'll see a high profile loanee who can play across the front three
Can see a top signing at centre back though

I think we just need a CB and backup winger who can play both sides (if not then preferably a RW) and we’re all good for next season provided we dont sell anyone else

Course they could but I don’t think we play to Simms strengths.

Over this preseason I’ve seen him call for a through ball only to watch us pass back or to the wings instead. All our strikers imo thrive on being more direct but we seem resistant to play those balls under Lampard for whatever reason..

I think it’s a big reason him and BTA were doing well in the 5-3-2
I think all of our strikers work better being played through on the ground but the tactics FL plays seems intent on getting the ball wide and then getting crosses in. But none of our strikers ever look close to getting on the end of them.

Only time our strikers looked even half decent was when we played BTA and Simms as a two. But since FL installed his 4-3-3 none have looked good at all bar Wright's hat-trick. A decent manager looks at the players he has and picks tactics and formations that suit them. He seems to be picking his tactics and formation then trying to fit the players he has into it.

Completely agree. This is where I think a new striker is needed as I doubt Lampard will change to accommodate the players he has in that role.

Not going to put names out there but imo, a target man comfortable with his back to goal would make a big difference for us imo

I think we only see a new striker or even two if Wright goes. We aren’t going to spend enough to put him or EMC on the bench IMO

Do we think we will lose Eccles or Allen this window?

Earlier in the window there was rumours that Watford would potentially lose giorgi chakvetadze.

Sell Eccles, buy him?

Exclusive: Giorgi Chakvetadze in Demand as Burnley Lead Chase for Watford Midfielder

Yeah I think one would have to go.

If it was up to me I’d look to sell Simms but would want the striker sorted first which runs the risk of having five strikers on the books.

I’m not sure. Rushworth and KKH both talked about Lampard as a pull and I think both wouldnt of been short of options.

Still got time to sign more, still wish we had some itks.

Yeh I think that's all we need really. Sadly I do think we'd have to move a CF on but I'm not sure who'd pay what we want for any of them.
Obviously if MvE goes we'd need a RB too.

Lampards pull got us Grimes, KKH, Rushworth…

Robins would not have got Grimes and KKH in my opinion.

I doubt you’d get enough for Simms to go and get someone better and they’d want to start which they wouldn’t if wright is still here.

Pretty sure Robins wanted KKH and he turned Stoke and Boro down.
Think we will see a few more faces a CB, CM and player who can operate across the front three.
Think it’s probably waiting on shifting Collins, Da Silva or Bidwell and Allen or Eccles to free up squad spaces.
Think if we then see a couple of loans go out Rafa & Bassete maybe then we may see a couple of loans in. But think they both might push on this season.

Yeah I get that, and agree it would need the squad tweaking, to maybe put wright back on the let wing but then EMC misses out.

Would probably have to be Wright leaving which is a big risk imo

Based on all the players who turned us down?

People just say any old shit to justify it man. Why on earth wouldn’t robins be able to get a villa cast off? Like we never signed players under Robins or something

This place gets very silly.
