Also look to loan out some of the Singapore lot too.

They looked quality

I've said before, anyone not playing in the 18's and not in the first team should be loaned out.

The U21 games are next to pointless other than keeping players fit.

Yeah but we’ve got people to sell and Wright isn’t fit for two weeks so if he’s off that will be last minute if we’re waiting.

As it stands this is out leanest summer transfer window I think ever, certainly of the level of Sisus final summer. So either I hope we’ve got business to do or I’m a little concerned about our financial state.
We've sold a reserve defender that most agreed wasn't good enough for what we wanted. We've brought in 2 very good players. We're stronger than we were last season and are not finished yet.

We’ve replaced our injured keeper and the guy we’re likely to sell and if we don’t sell won’t play.

I can’t see how anyone can seriously claim we’re stronger than last season TBH. A window with two in as I say is worse than Sisus last summer which was out worst ever. We have a lot of business to do to be ready for a serious promotion push and we’re leaving it very late.

We now have 2 genuine first class right backs. We have another left sided option who, on first impressions, is a decent pick up and our keeper is better than any available option we had. Theres still 4 weeks left of the window. I feel we are already stronger with more to come

We probably need to chill, we'll see movement in the next couple of weeks. As said before it's harder to secure the deals for players that other clubs actually want.
Put the pitchforks on hold until the window is actually done.

There’s four weeks left of the window, I expect to see at least or two in before the hull game

I really do expect there to be quite a lot of movement between now and the Hull game.

There's so much noise being made with regards to both incomings and exits that makes me think things will probably begin falling into place soon enough.

Transfer windows aren't linear, ideally we want all our ducks in a row before the first game of the season but rarely is that the case. I'm confident the team will be in a good place come September.

Question then:

Will our modest spend be enough to keep us competitive (assume we get a CB and a few outs to come here and there) or will Birmingham and Wrexham add to the mix with the parachutes and push us out?
At the end of the day, it's not just about money. The ability to get the most out of what you've got is equally as important. (Robins proved that time and time again) Buying an "out the box" ready made player is great but they will still need to integrate. If we stay as we are with maybe one more CB (although Perry looks the real deal) I'm happy with our prospects this season. Top 6 minimum

Sure but you compare what they have compared to what we had when we went up and their priorities won't be limited to survival!

Standing still?

the window is open for another 30 days

getting good players takes time

if by late August it’s the same then I would have to agree
Often it not always championship signings are as a result of the transfer dominos falling. We and lots of clubs simply have to bide our time. I think having finished 5th last year we have every hope of being top 6 again but I do accept that perhaps to date others have maybe progressed further than we might wish them to. There is a whole month to go yet but I think we often all want everything in place for the first game forgetting there are 45 more to go.

As pointed out above, let’s see how things look at the end of the window. I doubt FL is content with the squad as is
That's why I said as it stands.

I suspect we'll look better at the end of the window. I won't be happy if we don't.

I think the momentum from coming up from league 1 which saw us through the first season will certainly apply to Wrexham and Brum. However I have already bet on the first manager to be sacked to be one of those two, purely on their owners not knowing how accept a plateaue in success.

Yes there's a big jump between u21 and first team it has to be managed somehow. Some players are obviously much too good for the unders (like Bassette, for example) but not getting enough game time in the first team.
I think we always have to take into account how much we have progressed over the years. MR put a lot of groundwork into the building of the U21s team and at that time we were Div 2 and 1 and to be fair those lads were very suitable for that level. It's only now, we are top 10 championship club we see our youngsters are not up to the required level, basically we have outgrown them and that's why when they leave us they join Northampton.

I forgot about Brau TBF. That’s three which is only one less than the Sisu summer. The fact Bidwell and Dasilva are starting ahead of him isn’t a great sign though.

I think they should be judged on quality rather than quantity. Considering the summer you're on about, the marquee incoming was Kasey Palmer, I think we're OK.
Still time mate, reckon we see another 3 at least.

Dasilva has a really good end to the season. Also, I’m more concerned about the quality of players we bring in, not “how many”. There’s ages left anyway, I’m sure there’s plenty of stuff in hand we don’t know about because all our ITKs have been put on garden leave.

Two players that improve the first XI and things will feel different. Less to fix this summer than last time. Feel like a CB and a no. 9 would see us stronger than last season. Maybe having leaks plugged leaves us more nervous than before? Either way, not far off.

We need 2/3 marquee signings and then I think we’re pretty set to be honest
