Besiktas are going to push hard to get MVE apparently. I feel his sale will trigger the next lot of signings for us.

We heard this constantly in January with Galatasaray aswell though. I don’t think the Turkish clubs will cough up the asking price and I would like to think MVE isn’t the sort to down tools either. As much as I want to see him moved on now (purely from a financial point of view, I think he’s a cracking player) I think he starts the season with us now.

Most of the Twitter stuff overnight seems to have Anderlecht pushing ahead with Bertaccini.

If Bertaccini really has made it clear that he wants to stay in Belgium (why?) then I would hope were a decent way along with another option.

I would love Doug to just try and sign Doyle. He's had 3 seasons in the Championship, ready to go and has a high potential. Clearly likes the club and is already friends with some of the squad. Gives us the option to play in a three at the back if we need to chase a game. It's not my money but I'd go all out for him instead of strikers, they will be ok this year.
I can see us going for someone like Ben Mee to organise the defence.

I would say we have as much chance of signing Doyle as we have Bertaccini - i.e. none
If we do sell MVE we would be one of only a few clubs that could afford him and where the move would make sense for Doyle.

The sale of Binks yesterday and the extra Gyokeres money means our net spend on transfers since King took over is close to even. This season is still looking like the weakest Championship season for years. We're not as strong as Ipswich yet but nobody will be looking forward to playing us like they used to. We're very close to being strong contenders.

I’ll be honest I’d be pretty pissed off if we dropped £10m on any defender but especially one who has been playing for middling championship sides.

1 player doesn't make a team unless you have a Gyokeres or Hamer.

1 goal and 7 assists for a defender in a mid table side isn't shabby. Otherwise his loans have been to playoff sides or better and he is still only 21.

Not the stat I’d use to judge a defender personally.

He’s had one loan to a top champ side in Leicester and only made 17 appearances. I know people love him but he seems wildly overhyped. I wouldn’t spend more than £4m on him and clearly Man City think he’s worth more than that. So I’d look elsewhere.

How much you reckon it would cost to get Tangana instead if Man City want too much for Doyle?

I swear someone posted he had a minimum release clause but maybe that was if it was a premiership team.

Either way, you could buy 3 solid centre backs for £10m as opposed to Doyle

He has/or had release clause of £1.6m for PL clubs only. So not sure what fee they would want from a Champ club.

Well firstly Tanganga is right sided. He would also have little sell on value.

As with Rushworth, we’d be spending a high fee in the belief it could be doubled in 3 years time. That wouldn’t happen with Tanganga.

The argument is pointless anyway as neither are coming here

Assists aren’t a relevant stat for left backs? Interesting shout.

He’s 21 and already won the championship and finished in the top 6. Who are these players you are finding ‘elsewhere’

He won the league when at Leicester, and got to within a penalty shootout of promotion with us. Hardly middling

He played around half the games he was available for Leicester. We were a mid table side like Norwich. We still are.

Facts and figures read both ways
Luton didn't buy him after the final
Leicester didn't my him after they were promoted.
He was at Sunderland the season before us and they haven't bought him🤷‍♂️

Reading again. Maybe finish school then try the big boy internet. Or just stop being so fucking desperate. Your choice.

There have been bids in the last three summers but Man City have a very high asking price so they’ve ended up being loans

Injured at Leicester, full season at Norwich and both managers saw enough in him to play at right back which is not his best position just to get him in the team. Buying Doyle, if affordable would be similar to a Rolex in as much as it would be cash neutral with the chance of making a good profit. For someone like Doug thats the cold sort of business decisions he likes and the kid is desperate for a stable club rather than loans. Like I said before though it aint my money.PUSB

I'd be disappointed if we dropped so much on Doyle. Great on the ball but he's slow and no more experienced than any of the centre backs we've got.
If he wasn't at Man City and instead had come through the academy of a team like Norwich he wouldn't be more than £4-5m. I was impressed with him in the home game against Norwich last season but wouldn't pay any more than £5m for him.
