Not to take away from Rudoni as he’s brilliant at other things but this is what O’hare was great at. His first touch and ability to take the ball under pressure meant we could almost use him as a target man and hit his feet from basically anywhere. Even from stupid things like throw ins.

A cheeky bid for Calum? Blades will be feeling the pinch having not got up last season...

Can’t imagine he’d be in a rush to come back after last season

Agreed, always thought it was probably O'Hare's best asset

Agree with this. I only managed to catch the second half of the Bristol Rovers game, but i noticed 3 occasions when we had to chance to pick a pass forward and they weren't executed. Twice Simms made good runs and once from Raphael, the ball to Raphael was played behind him which meant he had to check back, and the other two, we chose to turn and pass backwards. When Grimes eventually did try and break those lines, we score.
It's something that happened far too often last season. You're right in that all of our strikers have struggled with this way of play. They all are the type that prefer to be running on to a ball rather than coming deep, i don't think any of them are suited to the role with their backs to play.
This is why i think Torp is vital to the way we play, for me the starting midfield (from the current options) had to be Grimes, Rudoni and Torp. Of course there are games that aren't going to suit that, but he has that ability to pick those passes. We saw that Grimes is also capable of it when he comes forward a bit more.
We definitely need some competition for Tats, we need that extra contribution from our wingers.
If it is a tactical problem and they need to ship out one striker to bring in someone like Bertaccini, who can play multiple roles across the front then so be it, i'm sure it's something they'll have noticed and are hopefully addressing as we speak.
I think we need another winger along with the rumoured Bertaccini.
He looks like a CF to me who can be deployed wide. e.g Haji.
If we lose EMC and Saka (which inevitably we shall do in spells next season) we're down to Haji, BTA and Rodrigues to play the wide roles as it stands.

Most definitely. Looking at squad depth and balance, the wings are somewhere we are lacking. I suppose a lot comes down to how they want to use Wright (if we keep hold of him). Then taking into account injury records, Raphael's lack of experience etc. A player that can play all roles across the front and an extra winger would be good.

Rangers have beaten a number of Championship sides to the signing of Mikey Moore from Spurs on loan according to Sky Sports.

I wonder if this is a player we were looking at, Moore can play across the front line as a winger or a number 10, that flexibility is the type of player that the Mail journalist last week suggested we were looking to add.

Birmingham and West Brom were the teams apparently after him.

If we can shift Collins and Bidwell, that frees up 2 spaces without needing to directly replace, and can then bring in cover out wide.

I imagine CB and ST replacements will depend on either Lati/Binks and BTA/Simms/Bassette going out as well.

Completely agree, it might seem all rosy now but if we lose a winger or striker to injury, or lose MVE late in the window, then we’re down to a very rigid team sheet with little rest for crucial players like KKH, Wright, Saka or EMC. I don’t think someone like Rapha or Simms should be a long term substitute for one of our regular starters if we get any injuries, especially as wingers are crucial to the way we play under Lampard. We need quality on and off the bench if we’re to make it to the prem.

wouldn't think so, spurs will want him to play far more games than we can likely give him

Josh Brownhill leaving Burnley apparently on a free. Would be a good pick up. Plenty of experience.

Would imagine a prem club would be looking at him though.

30 years old and had one good season in his whole career

We're not lower championship side any more and can do a lot better

To play in place of who exactly????
And why would we want to pay the kind of wages he'd demand for a player who plays in an area of the pitch that's already our strongest????

Ffs!

We have other areas of the pitch that need attention before adding yet another midfielder.

He's just scored near 20 goals from CM in our division. Every team in the league would have him, and thats why hes off to a Prem team.

That would create shit loads of chances for Simms and BTA to fuck up.

Priority is a striker, and we're already at squad capacity, so some need to be moved on.

Be alright we'll just get Brownhill to bang in another 20 lol we do need a striker badly, I want Simms and BTA to do well but they just don't seem to be able to, out the two I'd keep BTA but lets hope Bertaccini comes in

He's had 1 good goalscoring season out of the last 14.

But fair play to him he's a great player, but he's premier league quality and will want wages to match. He ain't coming here.

Would do well at a West Ham or Everton etc

So you concede then that he would replace entirity of our midfield with the exception of Rudoni.

I really don’t think we need or will get another winger. On the left we’re already tying ourselves in knots trying to play both Wright and EMC. Rudoni and DaSilva can do a job there. Right side we’ve got Saka and Raphael. Less quality but another body would be overload.

Everton and West Ham both interested.

I'd be amazed if he chose to leave BUrnley to move back to the championship.
