If it’s true that A saddle is right and B No players were told that they were surplus to requirements then there lies the issue with trying to get sales.

If no one’s been told to find a club it’s going to take time to get going.

Would it surprise me if the club was in a position where it had to sell to buy, no, but that’s where the club has been for a few years, it’s not nothing new.

We could still do with ideally with one or two more, but this side was a top six side last season and with a better start to the season we should be up there with what we have.

I was surprised to see how many games KKH played on the left last season. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them both start the season, even if MVE is clearly on his way out the door.

Nice to have the replacement already in the building and up to speed anyway, and if he can slot in at a position of need for the time being then even better.
Sure, but then we really need Bidwell moved on at least.

Fairly confident Allen would have moved by now if he was going to. For example, when it happened with Shipley he was gone by 11th May.

Also I think Lampard rates Allen for his experience and attitude. I think he sees him as a valuable squad player.

To many fans just think because they don't rate the likes of Allen, Binks, Latibeaudiere, BTA and a few others, Lampard will be thinking the same. We really don't know. Even if he does think he can upgrade them, someone has to want them first.

At the end of the day Lampard got us to 5th with the players we still have and he joined part way through the season. If things stayed as they are now then we are stronger

MVE is pretty much guaranteed to be off.

If he doesn't then say we got lucky, as we then have to find a way of playing easily two of the best right backs in the league. Doubt either of them wants to be benched.

If we say he leaves for £12 mil as an estimated value, that's enough for 3 quality young additions for back up roles maybe starter if required. Loan Bassette and maybe Raphael, both look solid in pre season videos so far and will definitely get game time in league one.

Yep, it’s feels like most of the time is people putting 2 + 2 together to get 5
This is what people say when there is a mismatch between what ITK's are saying and what they as fans dream about.

Strikes me that SB's info fits in with the known facts. We have bought two defenders to deal with the number 1 weakness. We have not sold a player since Hamer, but brought several in. We remain a medium sized Championship club with an owner who has frequently asserted that the books must balance. Those huge wish lists - particularly for strikers, by posters like Fatso for instance - were always fantasy. Wish fulfilment ungrounded in the numbers underpinning the club as a business.

Lampard's challenge as a man manager - and it's what he is paid for - is to get the best out the squad and in particular the two who are in different ways under performing - Bassette and Simms.

And surely Frank can squeeze out of Chelsea a loan for a nice big juicy central defender

I think the two slots left will be held open, for when or if we get a cash injection from the sales of Gyokeres and or MVE. So we can go for real quality.

Others wise it will be replacing like for like if there are any takers on our squad players like Allen, Bidwell, Latibeaudiere etc., But in those players are three of our most experienced players. So you have to be careful about not upsetting the continuity and experience side of the club.

Matthew Ryan, released by Lens after playing the second half of the season for them. Formerly played for Brighton in the top flight and Australian international keeper also.

Wouldn't cost too much and looks pretty reliable between the sticks
would be a good number 2 backing up Dovin if we didn't have the two jokers also filling up the squad

Ive been told this morning that unless its frees or loans, no one else is coming in until we've offloaded some

Probably not groundbreaking info, but the issue is no ones attracted even a bid yet. Not even Milan
I’m slightly surprised I have to say in that when ever attracted FL we’ve told him we have less than £10 million to spend! I am glad the door is open for loans - 2 too class loans would go a long way to keeping us competitive I would say

I’m fine with no more players in. I would only add a goalkeeper anyway and think it would be pretty stupid if we didn’t get a goalie in who are relatively low cost.

We have a big squad and players have to leave before incomings. Makes perfect sense to me .

I still maintain wright simms Bassette and BTA are a great strike force in this league. For our budget.

The loan move for Le Fee was absolutely bonkers, bordering on financially irresponsible. Would be amazed if we do something similar.
I think it’s more the principle of loans rather than a large fee that Sunderland spent. I am pleased to hear he has changed his viewpoint

The wish list for a striker was financed with the potential sale of Simms and/or BTA or even Wright if the offer was high enough, and the loaning out of Bassette/Raphael

It wasn't suggested that we add another striker to an already oversized squad.
And neither was it suggested that we splash money we can't recoup.

Hope that clears that up.

Also tbf and nothing against saddle at all. He only passing on his info.

But if I remember correctly the same was said in January and grimes was plucked out the air for 4m quid out of nowhere and now one of our best players.

It doesn't seem like we are actively trying to off load anyone at the moment. Post Portugal and maybe a friendly of two, that landscape may change. But I still don't think this summer is going to be as dramatic as some were predicting a month or two ago.
