Possibly, I imagine Brau needed to be announced earlier as he is moving countries not just clubs and would need as much time as possible to move his family over

I saw a clip, I think from Sky Blues Fans TV, of the finance expert Kieran Maguire saying we have no worries regarding PSR.

In Dean Austin's coaching video (topic of another thread) he remarked that City don't generally get involved in transfers on the last day of the window.

I think last years saga with the kiwi (not attempting to spell his name) probably hurt within the club, it looked like we had done all we could to get the guy to sign and then his agent starting to play silly buggers and hawk him around ultimately with success. Agents really are a scar on the game sadly

Think as we are now looking in a player pool of higher quality, getting gazumped and out bid is a big issue. So guess makes sense to keep under lockdown.

There will have been plenty going on, players back Monday/tuesday - things will start happening.

What are people expecting to happen?

You have a squad that’s just finished 5th, apart from RB, there’s two players (at least) for every position. There were no loans, and everyone is under contract.

You’re not going to get expensive incomings, without more expensive outgoings.

Very true. Stamenic wasn’t it. Probably the reason sheaf ended up staying.

I have totally faith in Doug and Frank tbh and it’s weird saying that but I have total faith. Season tickets have all but sold out so we have backed the club financially and in numbers. We don’t sign many duds let’s be honest and Frank will undoubtably have a pull on certain players.

I think many fans forget we finished 5th and actually don’t need much. If we don’t lose anyone then we only need 2-3 players. Above all give me a goalie. It would be a disaster going in to the season with Collins and Wilson.

So you think we need to sell some of the big players to see movement in a squad?

Just because its all under contract doesn't mean Lampard wont want to improve on what he has.

Clearly yes.

Or are we relying on the magic Ryton money tree again?

I’d be amazed if a new manager doesn’t want any players and that’s before you get to the issues with the squad we had last season. (No wingers, no full backs, decidedly average CMs and STs and CBs, no keeper)

We lose millions a year like every championship club. It’s English football of course we’re relying on a magic money tree.

We sold £0 worth of players and spent £15m last summer. He's on another planet.

Yes. But a smaller money tree than most in the championship. If we go up it’s by trading smart, not bankrupting ourselves

So you think Lampard would have come here, with DK telling him. By the way, in the summer you can only sign players if we let some of our best and most valuable players go?

I feel like there's obviously 2 lists and we'll likely already know which one we'll be using.
1. Lil bit of Doug cash and a couple of minor outgoings list.
2. Allow someone like MvE to go plus Vik cash list.
Either way new players are coming but outgoings will affect the quality and the quantity somewhat.

I’ve convinced myself that FL wouldn’t have come here if he hadn’t received assurances that he’d have money to spend/be able to put his stamp on the club…signing Grimes added to this belief.

I would also be amazed if there wasn’t a deal between the chairman and the manager (head coach) that confirmed significant backing this summer. Lampard was /is a big named manager and surely he wouldn’t have come here if he had not been sold a vision for the future.

A squad that still made the play offs! I wouldn't expect too many newbies unless we sell any of our major players

Other than a loan goalkeeper and a back up right back I would expect it will be one in one out.

Calvert-Lewin being shown around Ryton today by Ashley Young (who has just signed a one year deal) and old Everton team mate Ellis Simms who is hoping to rekindle their fruitful strike partnership from Lampard’s reign at Everton.

Milan still collecting his things but old bloke at the gate not letting him go. Marco Silva waiting on the other side of the gate is negotiating his ransom.

Rapha finishing modelling the new Sudan Brown Snake Skin training gear.

Apart from that fuck all is going on.

Somebody did exactly that weeks ago, had connections at Everton who told them he was coming to us, the poster did say that the same person told him Simms was joining so they had credibility but they didn't think this one was true. Sorry cant remember who said it and on what thread. He will have PL options for certain and also options far in advance of our budget.

I think we do ourselves down a bit too much these days. We aren't the league paupers anymore and probably one of the most attractive moves outside of the parachute clubs. I don't see a player like Calvert-Lewin as horrendously unrealistic tbh.

I struggle to see C-L as a realistic signing. His wages will be far more than anything we pay
