Each cycle begins on 1st July so imagine it doesI know this applies to PL.clubs but does it apply to the EFL ?
Possibly, I imagine Brau needed to be announced earlier as he is moving countries not just clubs and would need as much time as possible to move his family overI'm wondering if we aren't signing players until after July 1st due to PSR/FFP rules?
I saw a clip, I think from Sky Blues Fans TV, of the finance expert Kieran Maguire saying we have no worries regarding PSR.I'm wondering if we aren't signing players until after July 1st due to PSR/FFP rules?
In Dean Austin's coaching video (topic of another thread) he remarked that City don't generally get involved in transfers on the last day of the window. The season starts in 41 days thats a month and a third we have ages to sign new players
Dougs just put £15 million inMa
Maybe we can't spend what we don't have , I want the club to be sustainable and not end up in huge debt like QPR, Shef Wed, and Bristol City.
I'm hoping its not a slow window and we are just doing all our business quietly. You know its a slow window when even Nixon isnt making anything up about us on a Sunday morning
I think last years saga with the kiwi (not attempting to spell his name) probably hurt within the club, it looked like we had done all we could to get the guy to sign and then his agent starting to play silly buggers and hawk him around ultimately with success. Agents really are a scar on the game sadlyI'm hoping its not a slow window and we are just doing all our business quietly.
Think as we are now looking in a player pool of higher quality, getting gazumped and out bid is a big issue. So guess makes sense to keep under lockdown.I think last years saga with the kiwi (not attempting to spell his name) probably hurt within the club, it looked like we had done all we could to get the guy to sign and then his agent starting to play silly buggers and hawk him around ultimately with success. So you think we need to sell some of the big players to see movement in a squad? What are people expecting to happen?
You have a squad that’s just finished 5th, apart from RB, there’s two players (at least) for every position. There were no loans, and everyone is under contract.
You’re not going to get expensive incomings, without more expensive outgoings.

Just because its all under contract doesn't mean Lampard wont want to improve on what he has.
Clearly yes.
Or are we relying on the magic Ryton money tree again?

We sold £0 worth of players and spent £15m last summer. He's on another planet. We lose millions a year like every championship club. It’s English football of course we’re relying on a magic money tree.

So you think Lampard would have come here, with DK telling him. By the way, in the summer you can only sign players if we let some of our best and most valuable players go?Funded by the excess income, and future transfers fees from the summer before

I feel like there's obviously 2 lists and we'll likely already know which one we'll be using. So you think Lampard would have come here, with DK telling him. By the way, in the summer you can only sign players if we let some of our best and most valuable players go?
I’ve convinced myself that FL wouldn’t have come here if he hadn’t received assurances that he’d have money to spend/be able to put his stamp on the club…signing Grimes added to this belief.I’d be amazed if a new manager doesn’t want any players and that’s before you get to the issues with the squad we had last season. (No wingers, no full backs, decidedly average CMs and STs and CBs, no keeper)

I would also be amazed if there wasn’t a deal between the chairman and the manager (head coach) that confirmed significant backing this summer. Lampard was /is a big named manager and surely he wouldn’t have come here if he had not been sold a vision for the future.I’d be amazed if a new manager doesn’t want any players and that’s before you get to the issues with the squad we had last season. Totally agree with that , Grimes was a big addition in JanuaryI’ve convinced myself that FL wouldn’t have come here if he hadn’t received assurances that he’d have money to spend/be able to put his stamp on the club…signing Grimes added to this belief.

Seen that and automatically thought of this forum lolAnybody want to start a Calvert-Lewin rumour after now he is a free agent
Somebody did exactly that weeks ago, had connections at Everton who told them he was coming to us, the poster did say that the same person told him Simms was joining so they had credibility but they didn't think this one was true. Sorry cant remember who said it and on what thread. He will have PL options for certain and also options far in advance of our budget.Seen that and automatically thought of this forum lol
I think we do ourselves down a bit too much these days. We aren't the league paupers anymore and probably one of the most attractive moves outside of the parachute clubs. I don't see a player like Calvert-Lewin as horrendously unrealistic tbh.Somebody did exactly that weeks ago, had connections at Everton who told them he was coming to us, the poster did say that the same person told him Simms was joining so they had credibility but they didn't think this one was true. I struggle to see C-L as a realistic signing. His wages will be far more than anything we payI think we do ourselves down a bit too much these days.
