Let’s face it. Apart from Milan, most oppo forwards are faster than our defenders. That being the case move the defending line 25 metres back so they can move forward onto the ball instead of chasing it.
Play to their strong points and this will give space to our midfield to expand the game.
What was the game where kitching and Thomas tried to play off side in their half , it’s comical at times, think we just need to accept it’s how we play, we just need to score more and we’ll get away with it ,

Totally agree I have said this for a while it's not so much the personnel, it's the tactics and teams are wise to it. We press so high and Bobby and Kitching just haven't got the pace. Grimes is so heavily relied on and he just can't cover everything. Milan and JDS are constantly getting caught out almost as wingers. If we slowed it down a bit and didn't press as high we could keep it tight. We have the personnel and pace up top to ruin teams on the counter attack. I really hope Frank and Co. have been looking at a different formation and tactics to make us more solid because I fear if we continue this high line style it's going to ultimately cost us. Even if it's away from home where it needs improving just stay compact and bang turn over on the break and it would work. Hopefully we've sourced a strong and quick centre half and left back to help out.

Our away problem summed up in 1 photo 😂
It's true it's similar to say Liverpool certainly under Klopp where Van Dijk and say Matip were essentially on the half way line but they were both quick for centre halves. We lack pace centrally from defence to CM and Grimes can only do so much. We need someone like Onyeka a proper engine who covers box to box. I really think Grimes and Onyeka would be the best in the Championship. This would allow Torp to play further forward. The Onyeka deal is vital and needs to be done.

That’s what I don’t get, it’s obvious to everyone, it’s a brilliant way to play but need pace at the back to play it, that’s the problem, asking our centre halves to do something they can’t, surely you’d of solved that in the summer ? You only need one of them to have a bit of pace, our 4 centre halves make kilcline look sharp, Jordan storey from Preston would of suited us, bit of pace, there was no point in us wasting 10 million on the lad from hull, wouldn’t of made any difference

1 million percent it's crazy how Lampard hasn't made centre half a priority position or change the fucking tactics. The biggest issue is Milan and JDS leaving so much space on the flanks. EMC and Esse need to work harder and track back. I feel Tats does he works his socks off and I reckon Minny would because Asian players predominantly are the fittest players around and generally work very hard. Something has to change and quickly.

Would love to see our defensive coaching, surely they’re not practicing that in training ? Grimes is clever, you’d think he’d have a word with Lampard and tell him it’s not working away,

You'll have a pile on soon from Tom rad, Grendel and the others. You can't criticise Frank, otherwise you are a traitor.

I have been battered on this forum, for suggesting the same.. apparently our "xg" is brilliant! Perhaps we can win the "xg league"'.. will we get 200 million for doing that?

Centre half isn't the problem. Tactics, but don't criticise Frank.

Well not really. There's an irony to your posting, you absolutely wet yourself when people were calling out Simms when he was shite for a whole season, yet all I've seen from you for weeks now is piles and piles of negative posts about a manager who has us top of the league.
I think if your forum persona is going to be a holier than thou one, you look pretty silly when you start going the other way. What you actually didn't like was one of your favourites being critised which is fine as we're all hypocrites on here but you don't have a leg to stand on when you go back to the holier than thou shtick.
I'll stick to backing the manager for now. He's done a fantastic job and is far more important than any of our streaky strikers.

Matip was not a quick centre back. And he was facing PL forwards who are quicker than you see in the champ. So Liverpool would get countered like we do and flew by the seat of their pants. Van Dijk’s pace was useful down the middle at that time but Trent has never been especially quick, Robertson ok, but they had no MVE cheat code for speed.

I think it’s a misconception that our CBs are slow. Lati is slow, granted but the others are average for the Championship. The way we play exposes them to the counter, of course, and it’s not just about speed. The sheer physical demands of getting up and down the pitch all the time, every week are starting to show.

Let’s be honest it’s both …. Thomas and Kitch are making awful mistakes and they are also exposed by our tactical approach.
This. Would say given their skill set we need to tweak the tactics.

but fact they have both found honking form at same time not ideal - we have simply found poor form / wobble / injuries / suspension all at the same time - that all plays into this current form.

Lampard et al could help though, just shut up a little more, we don’t need to gung ho, so much fire power on pitch.

Only caveat with that pic is we were chasing the game so committing more forward.

But the general point still stands.

I’m old fashioned but I think you shouldn’t let a forward be closer to goal than your CBs and not offside even when chasing a game.

It’s a bit silly in any case. I’m saying what I think will happen based on what I’ve seen and it’s my gut feeling. We don’t look like a team that believes it can get over the line, we do look really nervy.

Boro will go top at the CBS if not sooner, bookmark the post.
Na. We’ve had boro in our pocket for years and we’ll know its a 6 pointer when it comes to the title race. No chance we lose this. 3-1 win. Bookmark this post

The same CBS where we have lost once all season yet apparently look really nervy? Ok look forward to bookmarking this one

Not so easy when our fanbase start jeering as soon as we don’t close down the opposition keeper

We need to figure out something away from home, i feel its a confidence thing so we probably do need to just shore it up until the players regain their mojo a bit. At home i don't really see an issue. The complaint seems to be we haven't been blowing teams away, we've had tight wins over Bristol, Swansea, Lesta and Millwall recently but i'm struggling to see a problem with that. Winning tight games isn't really the sign of a team that lacks confidence on their home turf or have lost their bottle. Quite the opposite in fact.
I think a player of Onyekas profile will do us good in those tricky away fixtures.
