And nor should we ….. overspending is the quickest way to unpick the amazing progress made iver the last few years …
I was thinking about turning points in our history.
We were a lower mid-table top division team when Richardson decided we should be doing better. He brought in Ron Atkinson, a manager on his way down with a record of spending money poorly. He spent vast amounts of cash compared with previous managers and we stayed firmly where we were only with a large debt.
Richardson gave Dublin a huge contract after being warned by all of football it was unsustainable.
I believe these instances of living beyond our means were the start of our terrible downward spiral exacerbated by terrible boards and owners.
We have done brilliantly over the last few years carefully husbanding our resources. King must take an enormous amount of credit for this moving us ever forward whilst still losing £7 million a year.
We need promotion or rich owners, but what we do not need is massive debt and wages that will upset our existing tight knit squad.

Very concerning Blues can outgun us for a player despite us being top of the league
Not at all. Would much rather we have a structure and a value assigned to offers Vs just trying to outbid silly money. Then it's down to the player - do you want to play for a team that's top of the league or go to the highest bidder. More of a reflection of that IMO.

In the belief we will sign 1 more player, but only 1 more I think it’ll be a CM, and some players I’d be interested in as follows

🇳🇴 Patrick Berg (28) - Bodo/Glimt

🇯🇵 Kodai Sano (22) - NEC Nijmegen

🇯🇵 Ao Tanaka (27) - Leeds Utd

🇨🇲 Arthurt Avom (21) - Lorient

🇳🇴 Jens Hjerto-Dahl (20) - Tromso

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Dan Neil (24) - Sunderland

🇬🇭 Caleb Yirenkyi (19) - Nordsjaelland

🇨🇭 Cheveyo Tsawa (19) - FC Zurich

🇸🇪 Besfort Zeneli (23) - Elfsborg

🇩🇰 Thomas Jorgensen (20) - Viborg
Thomas Jørgensen - Technical Midfielder - 2025ᴴᴰ

🇳🇴 Lasse Berg Johnsen (26) - Malmo

🇩🇰 Emil Kornvig (25) - Brann

Big fan of Sano, Avom, Yirenkyi and Jorgensen. The first three are definitely out of our league at the moment but Jorgensen would be gettable and a clear upgrade on Eccles and Allen in the #8 position.

@Ccfcisparks you’re gonna need a bigger keep net

Or he’s bought into their project and sees them as more ambitious. King clearly didn’t manage to convince him.

We would of chased many deals that don't or can't get done, just don't hear about it. That will not stop us going for more or does not make us unique. Its the way it goes, i still think we see 2 more and could well see 1 out as well as loans for some of the younger lads.

Still time to see if Doug can get anymore over the line, if not 20 games to get behind the squad as it is.

Chased Hughes all summer and failed, chased Manneh for months and failed. Doug King out
When you have a pretty amazing recruitment record, other teams are clearly going to look at whom you are trying to buy.
If it doesn't go through without an agent touting the player around, then we are immediately at a disadvantage with our spending power.
Stamenic to Forest and Manneh (if he has gone to Brum) are clubs with far superior spending power to us.
Frankly, I think our development of players is far superior to many of the better funded clubs.
McNally, Doyle and Norton-Cuffey are examples of players who came on leaps and bounds with us, but cost too much for us to buy.

Got the feeling we won’t sign anyone else. Business concluded early and that’s the squad Lampard will now have to succeed with.
I'd be perfectly happy with that for the run-in - strengthened where we absolutely need to. Anything else from here on out would be a bonus.

Was chatting to the owner of our local kebab house last night. Mad Beşiktaş fan. He was saying he’s hearing from back home in Turkey that they’re expecting to lose Tammy Abraham to Villa. If that happens, he reckons the word from Beşiktaş fans is that they will move for Haji Wright as the replacement, possibly this week. I thought it was all fan talk, but I see on Sky that Abrahams is in fact linked with Villa this morning, and he has left the Beşiktaş training camp.
You've mentioned a kebab house without saying what the kebab was like, this instantly invalidates this rumour

Think we’ll try for more on a perm but not get it over the line.

I feel like he's plugged the main gaps quickly, and will look at other deals elsewhere, but they'd be permanents (or loan with option/obligation to buy) potentially looking towards next year and being able to cope at PL level.

Don’t want to be rude but unless you know this for a fact by having information others don’t, I think I will be right.
More than happy to bookmark this and would love to be wrong.
Well given a poster who has had nailed on info on transfers before has said there is definitely at least a CM incoming why do you think there will be no more signings?
