So that trumps people with inside knowledge and the fact that the club has basically been briefing journalists we were going to sign players?

Ok

I have no doubt we DO want to sign another CM but is meaningless if we don’t get the signing we want over the line as has happened before. As no names have been rumoured anywhere yet I suspect we are a long way off a signing .

No names were rumoured for Esse and Yang until a couple of days before we signed them, if you haven't noticed the club has cut out the leaks to the press.

Sorry but you make no sense.

Ease was rumoured for a week before it happened. These deals were clearly arranged before the window opened and finalised as soon as practical .
Was all lined up nicely to get them training last week and in the team for Stoke.

Maybe it’s just pessimism and if the signing is from abroad that may be more complicated/take longer.

Nonsense, you even had people panicking when we didn't sign Esse until a couple days after the rumour.

I'll go with the people saying we will "100%" sign a midfielder as they have actual information.

Who said it HAD to be £40k or no deal? Do you have a direct line to Dougs office? Or is that just a guess?

Because that is the rumour of what he is on now mate and he is hardly likely to take less to play for us.

Also he's likely increased his wages when he signed the extension to his deal as their were other suiters for him this month.

Rumour... exactly that. And not necessarily what we did/had to offer.

As has been discussed in the Wilson thread, a wage can be made up of more than just a weekly wage. Cant afford £40k? But can offer £20k with goal bonuses, appearance add ons, promotion bonus etc etc. Also, to say we cant afford wages, but can possibly afford a £££m transfer fee for the right player + his wages just makes zero fucking sense. Ive said elsewhere, £40k wages a week for 6 months is £960k. A £6m signing plus £20k a week wages is £6.5m. If the money is there for a transfer fee, surely it should also be available to allow us to stretch the wage budget slightly for the right person. ie Bamford/Wilson?

There was a deal to be done, Doug just though he could do better/stick with what we've got. Not often Doug gets it wrong, but starting to look like this might be that odd occasion he has.

We all know what will happen...

Torp and BTA come back, we win a game or two and continue as we are. Andrews will step up for a short period and show promise until he has a bad game, then we will all say he's league one at best.

We'll make do with Brau and Bidwell at LB supporting JDS.

And Doug will have tried to sign a CM and we will make a few bids but won't be able to get it over the line.

Roll on Feb, then the injuries pile up... same old names, Torp, Eccles, EMC...

Essentially, we won't be spending anymore chedder this window.

Hope I'm wrong ☺️

We have to bring in better than we have and we are top of the league. So prem loans is the way Doug looks like he is going, Im sure he may even max the amount we are allowed which goes against what he has dine in the past and sees as a model.

You also have to factor in the current group they have got us to this point are every game FL exaggerates the point how close they are as a group. If you bring in 5 or 6 upset some which u will its hard to recover when the group splits. You have to balance all, even the quality you bring in and the number. Remember this is about getting there, once you do the group will automatically change, it has too.

So this is all about short term goal and balance to keep the togetherness.

I hope so too, but understand your opinion, which is going on past experiences . My only reason why i disagree with it, is we have never been in this position before. That may be the difference in Dougs decision making.

I can see 1 or 2 being moved on or loaned out.

Perry, Andrews potentially loaned out
Bidwell or Brau moved on.

If we see this id assume things will be done to add to the squad.

Fit enough to train full last week and i assume will have another week of full contact. So should be in the squad next week and get some minutes i would of thought.

Think Andrews showed enough yesterday that he could get a lower end championship or top end league 1 loan. Personally I would let him do that as with Torp, Eccles, Allen and Grimes he will not get the development time I think he needs now.

If u want to play with words i understand, but fit enough to train says he is not injured. Fit enough to join in full contact says he is fit and ready for selection

In the pre match interview vs stoke Lampard said nice to get our business done early.

Was that a miss speak and he meant to say 'some business' or was it literal and that we are finished with deals for this window. Hope I am reading too much into his wording.

3 strikers are in the top 20 goal scorers. All of them are 1-3 goals of the top scorer in the league. If there’s one position we’re well stocked, it’s striker.
One has been injured for 8 weeks, 1 the manager doesnt really like playing for whatever reason, and the other hasn't scored in 14.

Getting a quality option to see us over the line is not that ridiculous

It also tells people we have 15m to waft around and then prices are bumped up everywhere else we look!

If someone else pays it, it affects the market to a degree anyway.
On the other hand just because you offer to pay X for a player, it doesn't mean you will pay X on the next one.
