I think a young prospect with the potential to play at a higher level makes a lot of sense for a loan deal, this team needs occasional support not urgent improvement.

Our existing first team is in a good grove and is head and shoulders above the rest of the league already, established players who need minutes aren’t guaranteed them here.

If they are better than what we already have, they would be.

You seem to be making this season far too simplistic. "We've been unnaturally good for half a season - so that automatically means we'll repeat that during the second half" ........... that feels really niaive to me.

Yes, we have been the best team in the league this season, when we have our first choice 11 available. But as certain games have shown us, when we are not at full strength, we are not as good.

We have to finish the job and we'd be incredibly stupid not to take help. If there's a better RW/LW option out there, I'd 100% take it. I'd even take a CF, if the right player is out there.

We won't get a loan as backup , the top sides send out their players to get minutes not warm the bench

Just skimming through this thread. Very surprised to see a lot of negative comments about Sinclair Armstrong. Have we been linked, or is it just idle chat? Statistically terrible goalscoring record, but against us I saw decent team play from him as well as the obvious pace. Only 22, and if someone can coach finishing he'll be a very good player.

Admittedly, if we were to go up he'd stand less chance of making any impact, but you could say the same of much of our squad.

How does he improve this group? A much inferior goal scoring record than Haji, BTA and Simms.

He has some good physical attributes but clearly needs to work on the end product and if we're looking up to the Prem, if anything we should be looking at a 4th striker to displace Haji, BTA or Simms rather than a 4th choice backup.

You know what, fair play for this. If there's anything that will get 99% of the forum agreeing for once, it's the suggestion we sign Sinclair Armstrong. The bloke is a huge sack of wank. Merry Christmas everyone.

Scored something like 3 in a 100 games hasn’t he?

We’ve barely had our first choice XI available this season though? We’ve had injuries to key personnel all year, and yet we’re top of the league. People like to talk about that as if it’s an accident, it’s not - it’s because the squad and coaches are good.

Where has that come from? Saw yesterday on X that Bristol were favourites for him to go there.
Someone I know that I trust fairly highly (has links to Bristol City) - if it turns out correct I will be pretending to be ITK for the foreseeable future, if it’s wrong then I was just joking!

I don't know why Shmmeee has laughed at this. He was performing well as soon as Lampard came in and was clearly one of Franks favourites.
He is a man though who can't always be trusted to actually pay for his season ticket properly

Crikey. Armstrong. Wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole. He’s basically an athlete rather than a footballer. If you want a battering ram who will just run about all day you’ll be able to pick one up far cheaper in L2 or below

I'm not suggesting we sign him, and I don't even know whether we've even been linked to him 🤷‍♂️.

Just happened to stumble on few posts saying he's rubbish, and having used my eyes when he played against us I very much disagree. I like the strikers we've already got, and they've all been wrongly described as donkeys on here haven't they?

Glad to have spread some seasonal harmony though 🤣

I said his scoring record is terrible, and if nobody can help him improve that he'll clearly never make it as a forward at this level. But a lot of the comments on here are wide of the mark, and I guess I was alone in noticing that he was directly involved in some of Bristol's good football a few weeks ago.

Again, I never never suggested signing him, because I've liked and supported all our current strikers from day one, even when they were beimg slagged off in the same way.

Fair enough. Obviously others rate him as he’s playing at a good level. Debating players is what it’s all about

If we were going to take Armstrong and try and teach him to finish, the time to do that was when he left QPR.
I mean, how do you do that anyway. Stand him in front of a barn door with 100 balls each day? You either can or cant

Strangely enough I can't remember the last time we had our 1st choice 11 on the pitch at the same time.
