Ahhh it's all making sense! I was wondering who the Cov fans people accuse of being arrogant were
Again stop counting your chickens 🤦 11pts could evaporate quicker than you imagine. it's pure madness not to want cover. Borderline trolling I reckon so not going to nibble anymore. Snug in my trust that Lampard will feel the same way
What's your point? Lose to Swansea and Ipswich it could be a a 6pt gap.
Negative to think we can't afford a few re enforcements if anything
Negative?

We've played most of our most difficult games of the season already. Not only do we have a massive points advantage but also a massive GD advantage. The CBS is a fortress. Not a single player has ket us down this season although some were supposed to be poor. Ipswich need to get nearly half a point more than us EVERY game to catch us up. When we win this gets bigger even if they win. It isn't arrogance to see the truth. Even the number crunchers give us a better chance than 9 out of 10 for promotion.

Nobody is saying we don't need reinforcements. What's being said is it's quality and not quantity needed. This is difficult mid season for a decent price. But we also need better than Championship level signings. This isn't being negative about bringing in players.

I was confident about our chances before the season started because of the quality of our squad compared to the rest. Only Ipswich worried me. I had them to come top. We've had a good head start on them. 1 more game and we're at the halfway point. Beat Swansea and we're at least 11 points ahead of 3rd place with just 23 games to go.

Personally I would be looking at players who aren't getting regular game time in last seasons promoted teams. If they were good enough for promotion once, then they are likely what we need

We’re supposedly in pole position to sign Leo Castledine (unsure if loan or perm) from Chelsea when he gets recalled from Huddersfield in January.

Beaten Bristol City to him.

Makes me a tad nervous taking someone from L1 at this stage and in this position. Louie Barry was tearing the division to shreds this time a year ago but subsequent moves in the Championship have been flops.

Where has that come from? Saw yesterday on X that Bristol were favourites for him to go there.

We have to be honest and ask if whoever we got in as a RW would play ahead of Tats. I'm sure the answer is no as we only need cover. Therefore we don't need to spend millions. A loan or talented L1 player would suffice (as long as they are better than Rafa) Spending big comes after promotion

Tats is currently injured or ill.

We would be signing a RW to compete with him. If the RW plays better, they start.

Keep in mind that EMC came from League 1 🤷🏻

If we buy a young player for a relatively small fee i have no problem with that at all. He can help us out a bit now hopefully and he can either develop into a player who can play regularly for us or he can develop at least enough to sell for a profit. Decent clubs do this. What i would say is...
A. A loan for that kind of player would be totally pointless.
B. We'd obviously need more than just that in Jan, which i'm sure the club is aware of.

And he was the best player in the league, which this season Cozier-Duberry I think has been the best from what I’ve seen on social media
Castledine looks to be doing at least as well on the face of it. Regardless i think loaning either would be totally pointless, if we want to pay a small fee then crack on.

Yeah any loans we take on, need to be as good or better than we've already got. A development loan, is not what we need now. We need established players who need minutes.

Yep I'd take him on a fee of a million or less but just a straight loan doesnt really help

Doug doesn't do loans unless there is an end game anyway. I fully expect to see Rushworth join in the summer.

I think a young prospect with the potential to play at a higher level makes a lot of sense for a loan deal, this team needs occasional support not urgent improvement.

Our existing first team is in a good grove and is head and shoulders above the rest of the league already, established players who need minutes aren’t guaranteed them here.

I’d be looking to the league above rather than the league below for players to get us over the line.
More than one way to skin a cat. We could do what we did last Jan and buy the best player from a rival from within the same division. The absolute meltdown it causes in the opposing fanbase is medicine to me.

He was going good last season when he started playing on the left before he got injured
He also underperformed his xG and xA numbers, he scored comfortably be a 15 goals and assists winger in this division. Thats what the numbers told us last season (6.39 xG and 5.28 xA) and EMC is currently over performing his xG (4.12) and slightly underperforming the xA marginally (2.19).

I think Castledine is more of a 10 with CD being a RW/LW (mainly Right) CD dribbling stats are really something and his creativity stats.
Even last season for Blackburn he had good dribbling stats and seems to have good work rate as he has good recoveries/90 which shows he tracks back a lot.
Castledine seems to have weaker dribbling stats but wins a lot of free kicks, has goos shooting stats and is good in his duels on the ground and in the air.

So they seem to be different sorts of players which both on loan in January could be quite good but Im not sure we need a 10, i think we need a winger more, as Eccles and BTA can play in the 10 and when both fit Castledine doesnt get a sniff for me. Although both are top prospects CD has championship experience (23 games ~700 minutes)

You seem to be making this season far too simplistic. "We've been unnaturally good for half a season - so that automatically means we'll repeat that during the second half" ........... that feels really niaive to me.

Yes, we have been the best team in the league this season, when we have our first choice 11 available. But as certain games have shown us, when we are not at full strength, we are not as good.

We have to finish the job and we'd be incredibly stupid not to take help. If there's a better RW/LW option out there, I'd 100% take it. I'd even take a CF, if the right player is out there.
