Selling our most valuable assets wouldn't be something Doug would do. Its not about the player and fee, its about the time restriction and cost of the replacement.

For us in our situation its a time to strengthen, not to be rigid on a club model. This is the best chance i think we are going to get and in Doug's 5 year plan he set himself.

I think for £25mill+ they would have to consider it! Also the player would maybe make noise about moving!

we wouldn’t really want to sell in an ideal world but sometimes there’s a deal you just can’t turn down!
As a player, are you really gonna kick up a fuss to force a move to a club that for all tense and purposes look to be coming down, when youre currently 1st choice striker for a club that looks to be going up? Knowing full well if we dont go up, he'll get a prem deal in the summer regardless. Especially with the WC coming up, he doesnt want to upset the apple cart and potentially sit on the bench for the next 6 months.

FL will fight to keep the top half of his squad and rightly so. Sadly some of those struggling for minutes might have to make way for us to strengthen. If we can keep all together and add that's the preferred option but it might be budget restrictions that determine the outcome.

If we can keep the old guard and add which proved to be the right decision last summer. Then we will be a very strong squad capable of handling injuries, suspensions and fatigue until the season ends. Then if promotion happens the squad will be reset and club will be on a different level on and off the field.

Haji would be nuts to move 6 months out from a home world cup. His goals in the international break before he got injured have put him one foot on the plane. He is getting opportunities whilst playing here in lower league why would he risk that moving to a club that will struggle this season, have to settle in and compete with the likes of Wilson and Bowen. Can't see it personally.

Stick another 6 months with us and have a decent WC he will have a lot better options open to him

These Dwight McNeill whispers are interesting. I never brought the narrative that we'd struggle to attract quality loans. Surely we are a huge opportunity for fringe Prem players to kickstart their career and potentially pick up some silverware. Not many moves will offer that.

If we can pull a quality loan deals off it would be perfect. Keeps out powder dry for recruitment in the summer

The young Portuguese lad from Servette that was linked few weeks/month ago. First cropped up on X/twitter from memory
That lad isnt going to be the one to get us over the line.

It will have to be a Jamie patterson type ( remember that last min goal vs Portsmouth at home) someone who has done it in the championship and is championship ready.

I see it as getting in good old pros...on short term loans. Good people good for dressing room.

Like Ashley Young / Targett....etc etc.

Love to get in that midfielder from Burnley who usualky scores about 15 a season in championship..forget his name...hes possibly one we could take and keep into next season.

I love how everyone thinks they know Wright’s thought process and what Doug would do if offered 20m for him

Didn’t say he would get us over the line did I, just simply confirming who it was.

As for Pato signing, pretty much a waste of clubs money whatever he was paid imo. So I’d rather keep away from those that won’t contribute significantly or add future value towards team.

Everyone is allowed an option 🙄 Personally think a move now doesn't suit anyone, far too much risk for the club to get in the right replacement and loads of risk for Haji having to settle in enough to a new club and league to cement his WC spot. Took him a while to get going for us. His value is not going to drop massively before the summer.

Can you clarify what you meant by this Pete? (assuming you can remember 😀)
I don’t like to be so arrogant
I always use cautious optimism
The whole club is set up to progress and ready for the challenge of premier league football fr regulation to investment to changes on the pitch and there’s a lot to be done
