It’s been discussed a lot because he apparently signed pro terms last year with us yet seems to have been nicked for free? Als the offal still had him as a city player.

Have you got a link so I can update the contract thread? Not that I don’t believe you just how I do things.
I thought under contract players could agree to go on trial at other clubs with the permission of the owning club, which in this case is Cov.

The link indicating McCallum signed a pro contract with City is below, if this is the one you are referring to.

I will try and find the item saw about McCallum at Chelsea, but that may take some time.

Yeah that’s all I could find that was official. Lots of youth sites saying he’s at Chelsea but I’ll be honest I don’t know how reliable any of them are. Hoping for something on either clubs official site that confirms where he is. Even just a match report.

I'm listening to the phone in; some saying there's a conundrum about whether to buy to consolidate our Championship position or to buy for the Premiership.

I think this is irrelevant. We will buy the best players we can afford and who want to come here. Buying for a different league doesn't come into it.

Link below to the highlights from Chelsea, from about 1:44, you are looking at Chelsea’s number 12 which is McCallum.

Manneh medical booked.

Fee is bigger than I would expect. But heavily add on based. If deal isn't signed (at least behind closed doors) before Xmas, with the final details being worked out, then I expect it will collapse. Both sides confident it will be done though.
Interesting! Thanks for the info. Fee bigger than £5m?

Great news, doubt we’d book the medical if both sides weren’t confident we can get it sorted.

Hopefully first of a couple. As we found out tonight, this window may be vital for us

A friend of a friend of a friend and on and on - said earlier today that the Manneh deal was all but done and two more were coming in as well. I’ll leave it there as vague as it is 😂

Have you heard about any others ?

Still going to stand by this but if we’re going to see this season out with autos we need 4-5 more players.
This place completely loses its head after a defeat. We are nine points clear of third with almost half the season gone, that’s because our squad is already very good. The idea that we can forget about promotion unless the squad grows by >20% is delusional.

If the likelihood of you playing in a different division next season is >90% than you’d be a fool not to factor it into your transfer business.

Stacking the squad with Championship-quality depth pieces that would then become unwanted dead weight six months later would be terrible business and would leave us hamstrung in the summer. We could do with an extra option out wide/up front, but it’s almost like people have forgotten this squad has already dealt with major injuries this season and is currently running away with the league regardless.

£4m to a PL team is not much and you are likely to be able to cash in a load of your championship players anyway. You never aim to buy dead weight. Ideally we should be buying better than what we’ve got. Otherwise you end up with Woolfenden and KKH. Or you go after someone U23 with potential to grow even if that’s the season you come back down or a loan out. You keep talking like we’ve won the league and we really haven’t. People have been saying injuries will bite us and they’ve bitten us twice now. Win the league first. Worry about the PL when we’ve got there. Even a written off £10m is worth it to secure ten times that.
