I'm hoping that this coming window will be like a second Christmas. We kept our powder dry in August and have a purse full ready to spend. I'm excited to see who arrives. Unlike others here, I don't know much about any other clubs, let alone outside the UK. The chances are that I won't have heard of them.

Came up with a little wishlist if we’re still in and around the title picture come January:
• Imran Louza - CM (Watford) perm
• Romain Esse - RW (Crystal Palace) loan
• Koki Saito - LW (QPR) perm

Outs
• Kai Andrews - Loan (Upper L1)
• Miguel Angel Brau - Loan (lower Champ, upper L1)
FL madre a special effort to see louse after the match, hopefully tapped him up, their other midfielder with the unspeakable name (for me anyway!!) Chaka something or other is also one hell of a player. Surely we will go back for the Palace lad Rak-Sakyi who ended up on loan in Turkey?

Lampard did the same to Hackney last season. He's just making sure the better players in the league know he appreciates them in case they end up on our shopping list.

Impossible to get a like for like replacement, let alone someone willing to sit on the bench. We do need a more defensive/holding cover though
I don’t think you can, that sort of position you tend to replace fully formed like we did Doyle > Kelly > Sheaf > Grimes.
Who would that even be?? I’ve never really noticed anyone do the job he does

I mean an understudy. Not a like for like or ready made player.
They'll be young lads out their with similar ball retention stats, maybe in Europe's lesser leagues. Thats the scouts job to find them, we wouldnt of heard of them.

Just on Louza, Wikipedia says…

On 1 June 2021, Watford completed the signing of Louza from Nantes for a reported fee of €10 million.[4] He signed with The Hornets on a five-year deal lasting until 2026

But has since had a contract extension to June 2028.

It also says…

In January 2024, Louza joined Ligue 1 club Lorient on loan until the end of the season, the deal containing a purchase option.

So maybe they’d be open to selling him. He handed in a transfer request in the summer.

Depending how Giorgi Chakvetadze returns from injury he’s another I wouldn’t mind signing

Yeah definitely something we should look at doing. Even if we have to alter the way we play if Grimes gets injured we don't really have defensive cover now Sheaf has gone

Louza would be a brilliant signing, same as Chakvetadze, if I could chose I'd go for Chakvetadze but again depends on how he returns on the injury, If we got Grimes who was Swanseas captain and was there for a long time then we could get Louza. If we're still in the postion we are come Jan I can see us getting him considering he wanted to leave in the summer

Still wonder whether Sam Rak Sakyi, who I think we were linked with last January, is the player earmarked for Grimes’ succession.

Wouldn't cost a lot if we wanted him permanently in Jan. Looks like his contract is up in the summer. I assume that would be a loan though.

Last night shows how important this window will be. We clearly need 2 or 3 players as backup, so how much do people think we’ll need to spend and who could be realistic targets?

With wolf looking poor and our main summer target being hughes would another cb be on the cards? Also a number 10 is a must and a rw in my opinion….we need to spend big as every other big club in the league will do

We need to do some business for sure.

LB -We need better back up at LB. Bidwell is past it and Brau can’t get in at all.

CB - if Lati is moved on we need someone else. Woolf looked all over the shop yesterday and a few injuries to our key CBs and our season will be finished.

CM/crative player - no Rudoni and Torp and we’ve got issues. Need someone in to add some competition.

Winger - EMC needs competition more than Tatsu. But maybe someone who can play both flanks.

Striker - games like yesterday showed we need a wiley sod who can fight and keep CBs occupied. Wright isn’t the answer at times. There’s a 4th striker a lot available and we should fill it.

If Doug is going for it then that’s 4-5 in.

I'd be amazed if we bring that many in the window. Maybe a couple of players. We don't want to be left with a big squad and wage bill if we don't go up.

Couple of loans and a CM when you can let Allen and Bidwell go in the summer isn’t going to bankrupt the club.

Morons blabbering on about Woolf being poor - that was his 2nd full match or something wasn't it? Give him a chance ffs

Nothing silly but there has to be a little bit of a gamble to go for it if you’re in a good position to go for the Prem.

Sunderland did a good deal for someone like ELF where if they get promoted the obligation to buy.

If someone is poor then there is nothing wrong with calling it, although you are right extenuating circumstances should be mentioned.
Can't think of a player who hasn't been criticised on here. Vic and Gus made those people look somewhat stupid.

I can see a couple of loans coming in maybe with an option to buy if we go up. If we are still top 2 come Jan it's the conundrum do you buy for the Championship knowing those players might not make it into the team next season if/when we go up, or buy Prem ready players on higher wages.
If we do sign someone I think it will be someone Prem ready and if not break our record signing, be very close too it.

Wouldn’t be against that if it’s a Le Fee type that Sunderland did.

Sunderland’s January business was a loan from the PL, Le Fee, and someone for £6m. I think that would make a huge difference to us in Jan if we got a couple of quality signings and a decent loan. Or visa versa.

The £6m fee would've been for Isidor, who was already on loan with them for the first half of that season.

I am sure Frank will have eyes on who he wants in. However, its seems newbies never seem to hit the ground running and take time to 'gel', 'settle' whatever so I don't expect an immediate impact. The only exceptions to this has been Matt Grimes and to a certain extent Carl Rushworth

Most teams have issues if two of their starting midfield are injured at the same time. We’re not going to spend resources on someone who would more often than not be third choice.

How many minutes do you reckon an AMR/L/C would have got so far? More or less than Woolfenden?

I think a versatile wide player would be a really good addition. We haven’t really had any meaningful injuries to our wingers yet but we don’t have any true backups, which is not true of our central midfielders.

It’s not just about injuries. We’ve had plenty of games where EMC or Saka or BTA were having trouble making an impact. Depends whether you class Rudoni as a CM or an AM. I don’t think any of BTA Eccles or Allen are the same position as Rudoni.
