25/26 January Transfer Window (3 Viewers)

If Lampard didn't think Bidwell had a role to play he would have been out the door with the other players that left.
Yes there seems to be this idea on here that certain players are earmarked for us to get rid of. Consistently, Eccles, Allan, Bidwell and Lati are going to leave according to some posters. Very much doubt it at present.
If we get an offer we can't refuse, then possibly. However, players have remarked how brilliant Bidwell and Allan have been for the squad, even when getting little game time.
Eccles and Lati have unfortunately suffered this season because of injuries, but will feature when fit.
Football is a squad game.

We don't need anyone presently. Those saying we do are those saying our reserve players are not good enough although everyone that's come into the team has done a good job. The international breaks have also been good for us.

But winter is nearly with us. Poor quality pitches and games more frequent than now. We have arguably the best squad in the Championship and for the reason of getting rid of the players not good enough/wouldn't get much game time. Then we went for quality and not numbers. It's the same for the January transfer window. We either bring in quality players for specific roles or we continue as we are.

I wouldn't be surprised if we brought in a Prem loan or two. There's a lot of players not getting game time and if you're going to look at loaning players to the Championship you would want your players to go to a side where they will learn the most. There's a club that's flying with a manager that knows what he's doing. A manager that's improved his players with the help of his backroom staff. You would think they would be the choice destination for the loan players.
Yeah im not saying I don't want anyone, but for the first time in as long as I can remember we don't NEED anyone to be competing at the top of the table.

amazing

Came up with a little wishlist if we’re still in and around the title picture come January:
• Imran Louza - CM (Watford) perm
• Romain Esse - RW (Crystal Palace) loan
• Koki Saito - LW (QPR) perm

Outs
• Kai Andrews - Loan (Upper L1)
• Miguel Angel Brau - Loan (lower Champ, upper L1)

Is Louza because we played them yesterday lol. I thought he was good too.

I wonder how much he would cost. I think he cost them a fair bit.
Think it was £9m ? ...commentators mentioned it yesterday.
Thought to be unhappy at Watford, with much talk about future transfers...thought to be on over £30k/week though

Edited to correct transfer fee

At this point I wouldn’t want to make any permanent signings that wouldn’t be viable options in the PL next season.

Thats my thought process, but its hard to judge, I reckon Louza could cut it at that level, Saito is just one who has always been entertaining and looked good when I’ve seen him, whether we do european loans or something who knows but they’re probably the positions I’d look at

Yeah I’ve always enjoyed watching Saito but we should only be signing players with PL potential now. He’s another one who only just signed for their current club too!

I thought he signed for them last year, further looking into it he was on loan then bought, maybe a random european import could be good instead then, unless we can convince Raheem Sterling to take a huge paycut (tongue in cheek before anyone starts)

Another thing we have to prep for, clubs swooping in for some of our players. What would we value them at this January, considering it’ll be a but over their actual values as they’ll be important to our promotion push?

I'd be amazed if we are near the top that Doug doesnt put a serious premium on most of our players heads.

The ones I can see moving are Lati permanently and an Andrews and potentially Brau loan.

I think DK will be hanging a big fat not for sale sign on each of their necks to be honest.
Yeah unless we completely drop off by Jan there isn't a realistic figure high enough to make us sell any of our valuable players. Look at the top Champ sales in their age brackets. We don't sell when we have this good of a chance to get promoted and access the Prem money.

By all accounts our key players received plenty of interest in the summer. Yet none went.

If clubs wouldn't meet our valuation then, well it doesn't take a genius to realise that they've got next to no chance in January where more often than not clubs have to pay above market rate anyway and a sale might compromise our chances at automatic promotion assuming we're still in the mix.

I was one of the people saying that you should entertain ridiculous bids for your best players in the summer window in the name of building a promotion-ready squad, but turns out we already had one. It would be madness to sell anyone big in January, even for a crazy fee.

I would imagine the recruiting dept have a few lists to look at. At the start of the season it would of been players that can get you out of the league. Today i think it will be players that not only get you out but can be utilized in the prem.

That is a big switch and a different level of player you now are looking at. This is about balance because we have players that deserve to be around if promotion is gained and they are the players who most think could go. So bringing in players will have to be those who do not effect the group in a negative way. Certain players know the end of being at the club is close but staying to see it out would be hard to walk away from now.

FL or Doug will have a different view non sentimental, they will want improvements in certain areas. They want the best players in areas of need with the prem being the standard they look at. Its going to he interesting but i got the impression from FL that he either has been told or knows players will be coming in. And it will not depend on players going out. Our best will be kept and will get help to stay on top. Those left behind, well its business and sentiment will not come into it and although i agree and understand it. Id love to see players like Bidwell, Allen and Eccles be a part of what would be club history.

Would love to see us try a Le Fee type transfer loan with obligation who can play along the front 3 behind Haji. Love Saka and EMC but would like an option that’s just a bit more direct with a bit more quality. Similarly another Torp for when Torp is injured which seems to be a lot, and then I reckon you’re done. Maybe a LB if Bidwell can be shipped out and a decent one comes available.

Could be tricky as we might not want to purchase championship players if we think we may be in premier league next year

So loans or short term deals unless we find someone prem ready or potential to play in premier league

Good problem to have of course

Really tricky window coming as people have mentioned, we need game ready players like Grimes - but they cost and clubs don’t want to sell. We can’t afford a torp type who takes 18 months to really settle.

but we also as people have said have to have eye on wether than can play PL football! That’s costs even more and is gamble.

Austin et al have big job!

we need x1 winger ideally can play both sides.
Perhaps a 10 type

I would love a real dynamic box to box midfielder as another option.
