Esse is first choice and not buying the idea we’ve spent €5m on a winger to not be in around the starting 11 so Sakamoto either drops down the pecking order or changes position.
Sakamoto is never a player that would be ‘bombed out’, he’s got a lot of good traits that makes me think we could utilise him in different positions.

Possibly, with Rudoni and BTA there, it’s quite hard to have Esse there too. Esse and Merkalo’s shot maps are v similar, both like to cut in from the right hand side to their left foot. When Esse plays AM, it’s mostly at Palace who play a system similar to ‘the box’ under MR, it’s somewhere in between an AM and winger.You could also see Esse play more minutes in a central role

We are overrun in middle because of the position torp takes, you can drop torp back as we seemed to do at the start of the season and the issue is lessened.What have people see to suggest Esse would be good in the middle?
