One to keep an eye on, and I had mentioned him previously, is Mamadou Sangare. Moved from Rapid Vienna to Lens in the summer for something like €6m and seems to be a ball winning machine. Gut feel is he’ll get a Prem move next summer for about £15m.
That’s a lot of money for a player coming from a mediocre league. 8 million max if we were to take a punt.

For me:
At least one experienced PL player
At least one ridiculous loan they get in the PL
Go to Europe for the spine
You need one ludicrous GK and one decent CB plus a goal scorer. MvE and Rudoni would probably be the only two I’d keep in the first team but Simms, Wolfenden, Grimes all have some PL experience and Wright has played at the top level a fair bit.
That’s a valid concern it’s fair to say most, if not all Prem-Champ clubs are too big to fail. The clubs most likely to fail are teams in L1 and below where FFP is largely out of scope.

FFP won’t stop clubs going bust, at best it’s a road bump. What has done is ring fence the financial superiority of Europe’s elite clubs who are global brands. Man U can outspend Newcastle which is ridiculous because Newcastle have more money, have more recent success in the league but can’t lean on global revenue streams.

It’s not even protecting the teams it intends to and for that reason, it feels redundant. Wage cap systems work in the US where it’s a closed market.

It’s just about putting limits on gambling tbh.

Ipswich went with the failed strategy of buying what they saw as the best players from The Championship. It's not a recruitment strategy i'd go near, i'd say 2 maximum. This is a thread i have planned for the end of the season if we go up btw. 'Which 2 players would you take up with us?'
Providing they wouldn’t come up with us my two would be Louza and Fatawu. Louza in particular has been magnificent this season - he’s picking the ball up off defenders, passing through the lines then scoring from the edge of the box. Complete midfielder.

We will quite clearly sign Rushworth as first choice if we go up.

MVE will play, Lampard loves Thomas so he will play. Wright will play.

The hardest decision is replacing Grimes, but needs to be done. Look how Sunderland have flourished with the fantastic signing of Xhaka.

Rudoni will start for us in the Prem 100%

this is exactly how i see it - for me, the way to protect is is banning ownership loans to clubs. Basically stopping owners creating debt owed to themselves.

If they wish to invest - it has to be gifted

Yes sorry didn't mention as it goes without saying.

I think being Brutal Kitching, JDS, Torp, Sakamoto and EMC will all be dropped out the starting lineup were we to go up.
I didn't want to go into it too much as getting well ahead of ourselves but always interesting to see if people agree. I think it would largely look like this... (first choice named first)

Rushworth/Dovin
MvE/KKH
Thomas/Woolf
New CB/Kitching
New LB/Dasilva
New CM/Grimes
New CM/Torp
Rudoni/BTA
New RW/Sakamoto
New LW/EMC
Wright/New CF (flipped depending on quality)

Not an exact science, i'd expect a potential new CM to be versatile and possibly be able to play in the 10 too (i just didn't know where to put BTA), there will be a couple of players sitting outside this list too.

There is something wrong with them...

Coventry fans should be more humble, nice, thankful etc considering how their club was going. What the actual fuck... Didn't realise Stoke stepped in and helped the club. Absolute imbeciles.

Being brutal I think we get rid of BTA and sign a real young quality CAM.

Either that or BTA just becomes that occasional 3rd choice in most positions.

You’ll be surprised to hear I think we’ll need two new CBs in the Prem.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. I just have a gut feeling Lampard tries Thomas.
Wonder if we go back for Hughes? Not bothered checking how he's doing but Hull are doing well generally.

Hughes isn’t the right profile for filling what we need.

Just look how much value Sunderland have got from Mukiele and Alderate

Fatawu made his bed when he posted that story about us, it would be funny to take their best player though.

I know we tend to track targets for a while and given the amount we were prepared to throw at it, i assume we thought he could step up too. Probably right though, we may have moved on from it.

Woolf might well be sold straight back to The Championship and we could well bring 2 in.

TBH CB is one position I’d be looking at PL quality out of the box. For at least one of them anyway. The forwards at that level are a different class in terms of pace and power.

We can make a thread about players at relegated Prem teams come the end of the season too. See what pickings there are there.

Yeah top flight forwards would have punished us ruthlessly this season, and that’s no disrespect to our defenders. My Liverpool supporting mate thinks we’d beat them at the moment, I politely reminded him that Isak and Salah against Kitching and Dasilva would be…a mismatch.
