I know everyone is kicking off at the guy but i fully understand if Blues has come in and offered double that he'd at least be trying to get us to up our offer slightly. I feel like anyone would do the same if they were offered 2 jobs at the same time and the one they prefer was offering less money. That's sort of how I've interpreted it. That it could be a positive that maybe Manneh prefers us over Blues
Doug should be increasing the offer, no brainer.I know everyone is kicking off at the guy but i fully understand if Blues has come in and offered double that he'd at least be trying to get us to up our offer slightly. He might have to a bit at least. The player is in a good negotiating position. Not saying offer what Blues are as they have a fucking mental transfer policy, but you have to be somewhat flexible. If Lampard wants him, you go back to the table and try and find something that works for everyone.Doug should be increasing the offer, no brainer.
I’m sure we are and the fact he’s come back would indicate he wants to make it work with us.He might have to a bit at least. The player is in a good negotiating position. We *are* the highest scoring team in the country, despite our top scorer (soon to return btw) being injured and us not replacing him. We’re also top of the league and are about to bring in a winger who was sold for £14 million in the last window. I think that’s a pretty good spot to be in personally. When you *were* the highest scoring team in the country and then your top scorer gets a serious injury and you start scoring less than a goal a game the sensible thing is to do nothing at all and hope it all just figures itself out.
The people rimming these clubs should take note, blowing transfer fees and wages out of proportion is bad for the rest of us.I’m sure we are and the fact he’s come back would indicate he wants to make it work with us.
Difficulty is our wage cap is always going to prevent us signing players especially when Birmingham and Wrexham offer stupid money

Oh so now it's good to bring in players? We *are* the highest scoring team in the country, despite our top scorer (soon to return btw) being injured and us not replacing him. Yes? How are you still not getting this!Oh so now it's good to bring in players?
I agree, it just pisses me off to see ‘let’s be happy for Wrexham’ when shit like this is ruining the competition. It’s is but that’s why we all need to take a deep breath and just let them get on with it. We cannot and should not follow Blues or Wrexhams model. Either or both might well get promoted over the next 2-3 years but if we tried to copy them and didn’t, we would be bust.
Shit songEMC on the left
Esse in the no 10
Rak-Sakyi on the right
Wilson up top
Make it happen Douglas
It’s not about the Manneh, Manneh, MannehI’ve never seen so much conversation dedicated to a player founded entirely on speculation and agent talk
Can we jus chill with the Manneh chat now?!
About 10 minutes ago it was pointless to bring in anybody that wasn't a ready made prem player that would be able to contribute next season.Yes? How are you still not getting this!
Have you ever been on this forum before??I’ve never seen so much conversation dedicated to a player founded entirely on speculation and agent talk

Simms has been a revelation. Yes he has flaws. But hes capable of that immense lone striker performance...like Boro away...Portsmouth away...etc etc.I did point out he was only playing because wright has been as much use as chocolate fire guard lately.
Serious note, Ellis has done much better last 3 months for me, still ragged at times, but much better than others certainly.
No it wasn't.SBT's point was in response to the farcical idea that the entire forward line needed replacing
The people rimming these clubs should take note, blowing transfer fees and wages out of proportion is bad for the rest of us.
Are you confusing me for someone else or just making stuff up? I’ve said all along we should bring in a winger on loan and I’ve said that Esse is a good signing.About 10 minutes ago it was pointless to bring in anybody that wasn't a ready made prem player that would be able to contribute next season.
A 6 month loan of a player that hasn't made it in the prem isn't what you wanted. Just admit you were wrong.
It’s being caught between a rock and a hard place. If we don’t try and compete, we’ll end up falling behind and getting relegated anyway. The people rimming these clubs should take note, blowing transfer fees and wages out of proportion is bad for the rest of us.

What’s dumb is the suggestion that we should bring in half a new team to replace the one that’s already top of the league.
If the likelihood of you playing in a different division next season is >90% than you’d be a fool not to factor it into your transfer business.
Stacking the squad with Championship-quality depth pieces that would then become unwanted dead weight six months later would be terrible business
We are in a great position precisely because our squad is good enough. Bolstering it further is not straightforward given that we have tough decisions to make about even our starters this summer, let alone on backups that we’re yet to sign.
Tbh I think we will end up signing a few players - I’m just not sure we need to.
Who says we’re not capitalising on it now? My concerns are about capitalising on next season - bringing in players who are worse than what we already have doesn’t help us with that.
If you think we need to sign more Championship-quality players in January and fewer PL-quality players in the summer then you have things the wrong way round.
See above - I’m happy to bring in a new signing if they’re PL quality, but I don’t expect we’ll sign more than one of those in January
If Sunderland think they can do better than Dan Neil then that’s what we should be aiming for too.
Multiple first choice players not starting yesterday and we coped very well.
You need to accept that we are almost certainly getting promoted, and we need to adjust our transfer plans accordingly. When it comes to players like Piroe, as mentioned in numerous other threads, there's not much point in trying to build a super-Championship team. And even less point throwing money at building a super-Championship team just for this season when you already have one!
If we’re going to spend like a PL club on PL-quality players then that’s good news.
I'm against us scrambling to build a Championship super-team when we're almost nailed on to be promoted
I’m sorry, while this is all very flattering and frankly somewhat intimidating, nowhere do I say we shouldn’t bring in a PL-quality player on loan which is exactly what we’ve done?Sure mate

We are only team that can atm can genuinely offer a promotion bonus. He might have to a bit at least. The player is in a good negotiating position. Co’mon, don’t play the victim - you were more than happy digging up some post I made nearly 13 years ago to make a point.I’m sorry, while this is all very flattering and frankly somewhat intimidating, nowhere do I say we shouldn’t bring in a PL-quality player on loan which is exactly what we’ve done?
Unfortunately in this case he appears to have gone to great effort to dredge up stuff that doesn’t even back up what he thought I saidCo’mon, don’t play the victim - you were more than happy digging up some post I made nearly 13 years ago to make a point.
@Liquid Gold kept the receipts…
You wanted a PL player to add to the squad so that they were there for the PL.Unfortunately in this case he appears to have gone to great effort to dredge up stuff that doesn’t even back up what he thought I said
One of the “receipts” even shows me saying I want us to sign a PL player!
That’s pretty much what you did to me. It was funny, the joke was on me and I owned it…Unfortunately in this case he appears to have gone to great effort to dredge up stuff that doesn’t even back up what he thought I said
One of the “receipts” even shows me saying I want us to sign a PL player!
It’s easy to go back to 2013 when those are the most recent posts on something!Again, you can’t accuse @Liquid Gold of going to ‘great effort’ when you literally went back to posts in 2013.
I’ve consistently said that bringing in players on a permanent basis is the issue I’ve got, given our chances of promotion. Short-term signings and loans are a different story. Again, incredible that you’ve still not figured this out after all the effort you’ve gone to looking over my posts. You wanted a PL player to add to the squad so that they were there for the PL.
You didn't want a temporary reinforcement for a Championship campaign of a player that isn't good enough for a PL team.
Your whole point has been that the squad is good enough and signings should only be made with an eye on next season.
Just own it mate, you're looking silly.
Exactly this. He may be a great player in the future, but we dont need players for the future at this moment. We need ready made players like Esse who have had 3 seasons in this league previously and done well.Come on let’s be honest all most of us have seen of Manneh is his video clips complied by his agent. None of us have watched him play 90 mins live, we really don’t know how good he is or isn’t.
We do know he’s not playing at our level yet and it would be a step up for him.
