Our last 6 fixtures

Hull (A) - Probably the toughest

Sheffield W (H) - Will be dead and buried by then

Blackburn (A) - Will probably be playing for nothing at the time, and we have a scarily good record against them

Pompey (H) - I expect they will be scrapping for their lives, a poor side who I think will be in a relegation scrap

Wrexham (H) - Will probably be playing for nothing

Watford (A) - See above

I think if we come out of that Hull game on Easter Monday in the Top 2 we will get over the line

I think 90 points is too high, and the way we are going we will be wrapped up by the last few games. Far too early to think that way though...

Hopefully we need to beat Wrexham to win, and we stuff them.

The thing that makes me feel more positive is the huge cap between us and Ipswich/Southampton and even Birmingham/Leicester/Sheff Utd. I'm pretty confident that all of those teams will hit big winning runs after Christmas but it is very difficult to close the gap to us.

I think we're likely to see Leicester (depending on the points deduction) Southampton and Ipswich in the top 6 by mid Jan.

Its a fucking brilliant league. Anyone has a chance really.

I wouldn't include Leicester in that list.

They're hardly pulling up trees anyway even without the points deduction and given how they're currently being financed, I'm expecting further sales to be made in January, with very little incomings other than a loan or two.

I wouldn't put it past them to go on a 4/5 game unbeaten/winning run. Still a very strong squad who have been lacking confidence and momentum. They were effective in the Derby and Ipswich games.

Obviously means very little if they get even a 6 point deduction.

I think 'very strong squad' is a stretch to be honest.

Outside of Fatawu and James no one else particularly stands out. Monga and Page are obviously talented young players.

The amount they've paid for certain players such as Daka to use an extreme example distorts people's perception of their actual quality.

As a squad it's very lopsided. Certain individuals also quite clearly don't want to be there.

Yep. I’m expecting a high scoring game Saturday, got a better chance at Birmingham but that comes at the end of a very busy run of fixtures. We’ll probably drop and gain points where we aren’t expecting to anyway, that’s just how this league is.
If we score first, we’ll win the game in a similar vain v Boro imo. Concede first and think we’ll struggle a lot.

They’re vulnerable defensively so we’ve got to aiming for 2 goals.

Not that I am a picky bastard - But if we do it I hope it is the Wrexham game! The Ricoh/CBS has forever missed a day like that, a day in the sun getting promoted and a real party atmosphere - The Sheff W game would probably be too early so Wrexham would be the next chance

If it is an away game, then Blackburn would be decent as you can get 7000 in the away end and with their disengaged home support some would find their way into the home end

Would feel a little anticlimactic sitting round watching another team kicking off at a different time lose instead of doing it on the pitch ourselves

They'll feel they owe us one, but we could draw?🤔

way too low. The last 10 seasons suggests the top 2 teams get at least 90 points. I've been going with 91 being the target.
Ourselves and Middlesborough are on target for over 90 points. 102 for us and 92 for Middlesbrough. 3rd place are on target for 76 points. This hasn't been a usual season so far.

For us to be caught by a side 3rd or lower it would take a minimum swing of 26 points from the form up to now and for the final 25 games. That's over a point a game.

Sprinkle some draws in and job done

Could be enough on its own who knows

If we win majority of our home games it leaves a very doable away target for us

Would take DWDD from next 4 tbh . We can afford to go along at a steady pace
I think if we can get 4 from next 3 it puts us in a good place

That means you expect the play off teams to improve significantly in the second half of the season?

No it means I expect 3 teams to get in the mid 80s as minimum.

Ipswich and Southampton can easily go on big winning streaks, Middlesbrough themselves are course for 90.

we’ve shown that 50 points is doable over 21 games. Southampton and Ipswich getting 55/56 points from now isn’t out of the question

Number 1 and 2 only gets us 42 points!
I don't know if your joking (I see no;)) but I left school 64 years ago even with inflation No 1 14 x 3 (42) and 1 from the draw =43 No 2 plus 13 x 3 plus 4 = 43.
By the way my thoughts we will get to 90 with a bit to spare.I think that will get us this year. From 3rd down to 15th, 7 points seperate them plenty of teams taking points off each other possibly many draws in amongst them.
Enjoy the ride.

Because its rare
But possible. Until we get it over the line it is not over the line. Sometimes the more you grasp at something the further you push it away.

I am going to enjoy each game at a time and will not be focused on the finish line wishing my life away. I certainly won’t be panicking every time we lose or draw.

We aren’t even half way yet.

We would have to lose 5 games for Middlesbrough and another team to go past us. The last time we lost 5 league games in a row was March 2017 (our relegation from League One to League Two).

Another team would have to win 5 in a row and then better our results over the rest of the season.

The "we're not even half way into the season" is such a non argument. A team accumulating the points we have this season and this calendar year is destined for promotion and would take something extremely unlikely for us not to be promoted from this position.

Keep doing what we are doing and bring in a few players in the January window and we'll do it!

We have only lost 2 games in 21. The chasing pack are 12 points plus lots of goals behind us and very inconsistent. We can lose our next 4 games, they win their next 4 games and we will still be above them.

They don't have to win 5 in a row. And we don't have to lose 5 in a row. They need to win 5 more than us over the course of the remaining games.

And that is not as unthinkable as some are making out.
