One would have thought this tactical awareness could be coached into him. Hyam looks quality. He was apparently a real prospect at Reading. We did well to get him. We have some variation at centre back in terms of their attributes. I’d like to see us sign some alternatives across the team.

Quite. Most, if not all, owners have their own agendas. Granted, ours have been especially aggressive/ruthless in their dealings but they will eventually be replaced by another set of people with similar targets.

Ah, I haven’t caught up with the interviews yet. There does seem to a real bond amongst them. I think getting them mostly signed up on longer contracts help players feel more settled.

Just a thought but presumably Reid could be offered something on reduced terms now as he’ll be out of contract. I can’t see loads of clubs coming in for him or him being offered as decent a wage as he’s on at the moment.

Here’s hoping! Coincidentally I’ve just been reading the write up of the game in the guardian. It suggests that Doyle was instrumental in getting mcnulty to sign...bombarding him with texts, phone calls etc. I’d not heard that before. I think Doyle would be the last person I’d want ‘on my case’.

Unless he signs a new contract, by my reckoning, he’ll only have a year left. I think him being sold is a distinct possibility.
