Match Thread Millwall - Coventry City [LC] Match Thread - Tuesday 26th Aug

BTA really has had a stinker. Such a shame after Saturday

Match Thread Millwall - Coventry City [LC] Match Thread - Tuesday 26th Aug

I feel for the fans who make a mid-week journey for it. The first two rounds need re-thinking as they do not serve the paying public.

Very poor goal. Have been asking for that.

All a bit dull and like a training match. Do wonder if they need to reconsider the format of this competition. Particularly for the first two rounds.

Geez, I’m not having a go at him. Of course you would rather have him trying than not, but he seems to be pushing too hard causing poor touches etc. More of an observation that he could be struggling with confidence.

Sort of true, but wonder if trying too hard?

Grimes hasn’t got injured, so I consider this match a success so far.

Really looking forward to being told that Lampard won this competition twice a dozen times again.

Yeah, that was a weird ironic twist.

    Reflecting on SISU

This is a really interesting point and something I have often thought. I’m not saying it’s good we had to go through what we went through and that we have gained from it, but my as fan base it has made us really strong and has demonstrated what a truly great club we are.

Agreed, let’s look forward not backwards (mainly because I don’t understand the Dune reference!).

    Reflecting on SISU

I think the presumption that we’d always get back to the championship is only ever said with hindsight. Remember just how bad it really was at the time. We only got out of league 2 through the play offs. There was never a guarantee the club would survive let alone get promoted with the mess it...

Your last paragraph is spot on. I think we forget now looking back how bad the spiral felt at the time. I honesty couldn’t see how we’d get out of it and that the club would just continue going downward. Saturday really just proves that having a lack of ego was all that was needed.

Why are we constantly rumoured to LBs haha? It’s really not what we need.

    Reflecting on SISU

Yeah, I guess I was asking too much to keep it civil haha. It will just forever be a mystery to me how we ever got to the state we were in. Even with all the books and articles written. You’re right either way. The future is exciting and I’m looking forward to it.

    Reflecting on SISU

I think that’s true, but again, it’s hard to fathom someone buying a club without first finding out how much it was losing? Really can’t get my head around it to this day

I would really rather not start this stuff up again. More interested in people’s genuine theories on what stopped us from getting to where we are now 10 years ago.
