We are very lucky in our school, we have a provision where students that come to us with no English effectively have all their lessons in there until they are able to access enough of the language to go into main lessons. Quite often these are the kids that go on and thrive and do really well in...

This is the thing - we actually want to teach those in front of us... we don't want to be glorified child care. The standard of teaching can be just as good in state sector - if allowed to actually do so. Privilege and opportunity... well that's another thing entirely.
