Match Thread Coventry City - Stoke City Sat 28th Feb 3pm ko

Rushworth MvE Thomas Lati KDS Torp Grimes Sakamoto Rudoni Esse Wright Can see us opting for Torp in a more creative midfield given Stoke will likely not be as gung-ho as Blades. Esse for EMC or Tats wouldn't shock me. Actually have the squad now to rotate without enormous drop offs so think...

Catching up on all the mark discourse and feels like the truth lies somewhere in the middle. It was tight at the backend of the season from memory when we were chasing play-offs (Ponticelli brace away at Crawley comes to mind). The play-off semi vs Notts feels like a proper sliding doors moment...

Quite funny how this run-in is similar to last season. I remember lots on here last year saying things like "we'll need 74 points for play-offs". Reality of the league this year is we'll likely need around 86 to get autos with the nature of how tight the league is, everyone will likely drop...

    Three New Contracts

All 3 top 6 level champ players at a minimum with MvE having a real chance at making the step up to prem. Smart business to sort all 3 out, if we do go up, I imagine Kitching and JDS will likely drop into rotation players but doesn’t mean they won’t be useful. Nice to be run like a real club.

Yeah true - I guess if I was a fan I’d be worried that they’re so reliant on the Americans financing everything. If they get bored or some of the bigger investors decide to pull the plug it could cause real issues.

Rushworth MvE Thomas Lati JDS Onyeka Grimes Sakamoto Rudoni EMC Wright 0-2 Cov Wright and Rudoni. Sort of game where if we bag an early goal they could crumble, just don’t start slow and give them any hope.

Don’t doubt that it’s just I’m not sure I’d trust Phil Parkinson to get them up. Similar to Birmingham, it’s great at this stage but if they don’t go up this year, next year will only be harder. How many years can they actually sustain spaffing money up the wall and hoping Phil Parkinson gets...

    Championship thread 25/26!

Considering the outlay, the recruitment is very weird for a club of their size. Older players on large wages. £7.5m on Broadhead, £6.5m on Sheaf etc. with no real sell on value. For a club whose ambition and budget is premier league, signing a large chunk of players who are known quantities and...

Don’t say I didn’t warn you all… Outstanding to a man, Haji superb, Rudi much improved, Bobby and Lati excellent. Boro played some nice stuff but not enough quality at the back and Tommy Conway is absolutely awful.

It’s great to have games like this so consistently now. Looking back before the L2 season and how many seasons were completely dead by this point - never thought I’d be nervous for a February league game - just got to enjoy it, as we know all too well, it won’t always be like this!

It’s so obvious as well - in this current world of the only thing that matters is the last result - had the entirety of social media saying we’re shite and Boro are the greatest team the championship have ever seen - everybody flipping after the next game will be hilarious. It’s such a classic...

Whilst I love Mark and everything he did for the club - think there’s enough evidence now across Huddersfield, us and Stoke to show that his ceiling is mid-table championship. Outside of one year where we had Gyokeres and Hamer - all other years he’s had decent enough sides underperforming.

Can't play like Oxford did vs us on Saturday every week and get away with it. Unfortunately where we were unlucky (deflection off helik hitting the keeper, Wright miss), Norwich had the delight of Cummings turning into Brad Collins within the first minute of the game.

Rushworth MvE Thomas Woolfenden JDS Onyeka Grimes Sakamoto Torp EMC Simms 2-0 Cov - very us to drop points in three very winnable games, and then turn it on in a big game at home. Having watched a fair bit of Boro last few weeks, they're not this unstoppable force like Leeds/Burnley were...

    Six Team Play-Offs are coming

All for anything that keeps more of the sides in the division playing for something longer in the season. Think a team in 5th/6th haven't gone up via the play-offs in a long time so don't think it really gives any sort of safety blanket.

    It’s a shame it’s ended this way…

But we weren't lucky to beat either of those sides based on the stats.

    It’s a shame it’s ended this way…

No not entirely, but I think it’s played a pretty big part. Oxford/Norwich/Charlton/Blues all could’ve gone our way with a bit of luck. Blues score 3 goals from 3 shots, we don’t get a clear pen. Charlton we go a goal up early, play ok, managing the game alright and then Brau happens. Norwich...

    It’s a shame it’s ended this way…

I think creating numerous chances and conceding basically nothing is a good performance vs a side with 11 men behind the ball. Just got very unlucky - that’s life and has been life the past few weeks, it’ll swing the other way.

If you think that then I’m afraid there’s no hope for you.

    It’s a shame it’s ended this way…

Agree with this - it's also a dreaded downward trajectory from 1st to 1st (aware the gap to 3rd has closed from 10-12 to 5 points). People just need to keep their heads a bit here. I'm fine with moaning about Norwich/QPR because those are games that Lampard was tactically naive, but this style...
