Most good teams don't though, winning the ball back is these days much more a whole team affair with pressing traps etc.

Anyway, his main job is to pick the ball up from the defence or keeper and help us play through the opposition press. He's very good at that. I'm not worried about how many tackles he mates or his "ground duel %" as that simply is not his role.

He doesn't have a clue what players in the CDM do in modern teams. It's not his job to win tackles etc, he is there to help block lanes but his main role is in possession. He seems to think modern CDMs are like David Fucking Batty
