    UEFA EURO 2024

We were the top scorers in Qatar before we got KO’d by France and only Italy scored more than us in Euro 2020. No one can really complain about our attacking intent under Southgate at major tournaments. International football has always been more defensive than club football. Every game is KO...

    LIAM WALSH

He peaked under MR’s tutelage and really should’ve stayed when given the opportunity. We’ve got bigger fish to fry than Walsh so for that reason, “I’m out”.

Transfer Rumour Raphael Borges Rodriguez signs for Coventry

Is that compared to all winger/AMs or everyone in the league? That’s an important distinction. If this is a cheap signing, it’s probably worth making but I’m not overwhelmed. Yet, at 20 he’s a player we can mould and develop into a better player.

Transfer Rumour Raphael Borges Rodriguez signs for Coventry

I love how there’s this belief that Peterborough would accept Godden or Tavares as a makeweight for one of their players… Neither player fits into their model and in any case, doesn’t improve their team. Their current striker is a 21/22 year old who scored 10 goals last season and Poku is their RW.

He reminds me of Ryan Giles’ form at Middlesborough. Had a storming season with goals and assists but can he consistently deliver those numbers?

    Transfer Rumour Godden

It’s not like he didn’t have chances either, Plymouth away was nearly criminal. He had a good run in August and that’s it. 1 league goal since September sums it up unfortunately. L1 is his level and I’m not so sure it’s at the top end of that level either.

    Transfer Rumour Alan Browne

If PNE are ‘outbidding’ ourselves, Celtic and Sheffield United, the likelihood is that they’re overpaying him significantly because all 3 clubs have more financial resources. In which case, we should move on. It’s not worth it.

    Transfer Rumour Alan Browne

Players like Simms and Wright are our highest paid players because they’re strikers and the club believe they are players who can compete in the Prem if we got there. Browne is a top end Championship player and would be a good signing, is he someone to compete in the Prem? Probably not. At 29...

    Transfer Rumour Alan Browne

That’s not what is on offer though, is it? If PNE are outbidding Sheffield United for Browne, does it not tell you that they’re perhaps overpaying him? You’d think they’re offering close to 22-25k per week to keep their talisman. I’m not sure he’s worth that to us.

    Transfer Rumour Alan Browne

That’s not what I said. The point is around overpaying players on our internal valuation. You had Blues and Derby signing players for overinflated transfer fees and wages. Ivan Sunjic cost £6.3 million, for example.

If he’s on 15k per week now and has been offered a ‘record contract’, we’re not competing with 15k per week, are we? He’ll be a good signing if we get it over the line, but if PNE want to desperately keep him and throw money at him, leave them to it.

    Transfer Rumour Alan Browne

It’s not just wages though, there’s things like contract length to address. In the short term, Browne would be a fantastic signing over the next 1-3 seasons. If we want to be in the Prem in the next few years a longer term contract might make more sense for PNE to offer rather than ourselves...

    Transfer Rumour Alan Browne

Hadn’t scored a league goal since February. I’m sure other players would be criticised if they had similar barren runs. The elephant in the room too is that he is still within the ‘at risk’ period of re-rupturing an ACL. I genuinely wish him good luck from here, he is a modern day terrace hero...

    Transfer Rumour Alan Browne

Just accept COH probably isn’t going renew and wants a fresh challenge - money is besides the point here. We’re not outbidding a If he wanted to, he would’ve renewed when he was injured. In his own words, he wanted to focus on his recovery. He was going to Burnley before he did his ACL.

    Transfer Rumour Alan Browne

It’s not though is it? Besides, if we offer 25k and a Prem team does, he isn’t staying here. That’s a relatively cheap punt for a Prem team too. Splitting hairs and they don’t agree he’s worth £25k a week or they would have sanctioned that deal. COH between Dec-Feb was great. A real game...

    Transfer Rumour Alan Browne

We’ll have to wait and see for when COH is in court and his salary disclosed… 😂 Joking aside, MR is working to a budget and without knowing our plans and the targets we’re pursuing, it’s an academic conversation. It’s telling that the club haven’t given up on him re-signing a contract because...

    Transfer Rumour Alan Browne

COH isn’t on the same level as Wright or Simms and I don’t think he’s worth £25k per week. It’s best to avoid overpaying players - stick to your evaluation of a player and move on if they don’t sign.

    Transfer Rumour Viktor Johansson

Even the best Prem goalkeepers give the ball away, Raya in the North London derby gift wrapped a goal for Son. Imagine the reaction had they dropped points that game? A lot of fans ‘don’t like’ their GKs playing from the back but there’s a reason so many coaches up and down world football have...

    Summer transfer window 2024

It’s trickle down, isn’t it? Championship teams know Prem teams have money from their own player sales and TV revenue. So we will demand 10s of millions of pounds - plenty of Championship players have proven they can make the grade too. Likewise, plenty of good players have come from League 1...

    Summer transfer window 2024

Give it another a season and we’ll see how this pans out. MR and his team have the long term in mind, not the here and now.
