    Transfer Rumour Haji Wright

Yes, he offered so much and really was the lynchpin in making 4-2-3-1 work for us. His tricky dribbling and back tracking have been huge. Since his injury, it’s been square legs in round holes. MVE isn’t a winger and Tavares hasn’t been trusted to start much either and I doubt he has the...

    The no loans strategy

Numbers are arbitrary. Looking at the team right now, there’s fatigue all over. Our starting 11 has had to play almost every minute and it’s no surprise they’re spent physically and emotionally. We’d have probably needed 4 loanees in Jan to get us over the line (minimum) and that was never an...

    Ex Player Watch

We were always desperate for money, seem to recall he also forced the move too. I could be wrong because it was so long ago.

    Ex Player Watch

The grass isn’t always greener as they say. In my view, he’s a player that could’ve been a star for us in L1 and developed into a decent Championship player under the right coaching. The club thought so too as we’d put future sell-on clauses in his deal iirc.

    The no loans strategy

This was my thinking too, if we’d focused on getting a loan rather than EMC, would we have missed out on him altogether? He looks an absolute steal. Something that a lot of people are missing is that on deadline day, we didn’t need to sign a loanee winger because we’d agreed to sign EMC...

    Solid, regular, back 5.

From your contacts, we’re also looking extensively at RW, CM and AM, correct? So it’s not immediately obvious where Burroughs fits in as an immediate 2nd choice option. Despite being talented by all accounts. Me neither and to add to your point, Lati has rarely been used as a CB in a 4-2-3-1...

    Solid, regular, back 5.

Which point? Burroughs, the 2 CBs or both?

    The no loans strategy

Beggars belief. Having one or two wingers wouldn’t have saved the season. 3 players competing for 2 slots in a 48+ game season is asking for trouble. Lati is not a CM and proved that in the games he’s played there. He’s also covering 3 or 4 positions. Allen’s primary position for us is AM...

    Solid, regular, back 5.

Apparently we’re after 2 CBs in the summer which would suggest that in a back 4, Lati would be considered a back up for MVE. Burroughs has been playing WB rather than full back so I doubt he’d be viewed as a second choice options next season.

    Sheaf

By then, he’ll have 12 months left in his contract… Personally, I think Sheaf will want to leave in the summer to test himself in the Prem £15m for Hamer was a good deal because his contract was expiring. He was worth £20+ million with his goals and assists last season if the contract was...

    Transfer Rumour Haji Wright

Wright is a lot better than Sakamoto and it’s not even close. Comparing the xG stat for both, Sakamoto over performed on that metric whilst Wright has underperformed. Going into next season, with similar performances, Wright will end up with more goals and Sakamoto with less goals. Sakamoto’s...

    The no loans strategy

It is an issue and something to be addressed incrementally. That is, if you want the quality to improve. We could go out and buy ‘jacket fillers’ like Maguire last season or one of the numerous signings Mowbray or Slade made in Jan. Peterborough pulled the plug on EMC coming in Jan which...

    The no loans strategy

I was using CM as an example. 1-2 loans would’ve made some difference, however, it’s not the silver bullet we think it is. Kelly and Allen aren’t adequate depth for where we want to be. Hull went all in on loans in Jan and could miss out on playoffs just like us. In short, we’re not as close...

    The no loans strategy

Yes, it would helped with the loss of Sakamoto because we’ve not looked right without him. That said, 1-2 loanees probably wouldn’t have made the difference in the long run. Given how tired the whole team looks right now. The lack of a loan signing in Jan is an easy thing to point at and to...

    Gyokeres Deal Details

€100m in today’s market for a striker is not that ridiculous. With Sporting having a high sell-on clause they’re going to maximise their gains too. Gyokeres has the same amount of goals (with 2 games remaining) in the Portuguese league as Nunez the season before Liverpool spent €100 million...

Player of the Season top 5

Simms is our top goal scorer overall and Hadji Wright is our top goal scorer and assister (joint with MVE) in the league. It’s a non-starter that they are in our top 5 players of the season. To think they were slow starters too, they have both had great first seasons and made a lot of bed...

    Liam Kitching

I’m out run of form in December and January he was the second coming of Christ on here… 24/25 in a footballer’s life cycle is a strange time, if Kitching kicks on and hits form again, the doubters will be silenced. Then again, the doubters are never wrong on this forum.

Match Thread Blackburn Rovers - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 27th Apr

Just out of curiosity, why has Robins not really dropped Kitching? Especially given that we’d ideally make Binks a permanent signing. I’m not doubting the info, but it just seems strange they have these concerns and continued playing him.

    24/25 changes?

We got Hamer for £1.25m and you’d hope Torp is capable of getting goals and assists. If we were to cash in on Sheaf I’d expect 2 CMs in the summer.
