He had a bad game but let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water. Unchanged team for Denmark and if we secure top spot, play a rotated side against Slovenia to get game time for players like Palmer, Gordon, Watkins/Toney, Shaw and a few others.

    UEFA EURO 2024

I reckon we’ll top our group and end up with a tough team in the round of 16, could see Belgium finishing 3rd in this group. Which would be horrendous!

Italy, Netherlands and Belgium too. As mentioned earlier in the thread, we had a record of 4/31 wins in opening games of major tournaments pre-Southgate. Post-Southgate the record is 4/4 - 100%. In friendlies… Who actually cares about them? I’m interested in how we perform in the KO rounds.

    UEFA EURO 2024

You do realise France and Argentina lost to Tunisia and Saudi Arabia in the group stages in the last World Cup? As long as we top the group, I won’t care how. The real tests will be in the KO rounds.

    UEFA EURO 2024

Perhaps we should appreciate some of these boring 1-0 wins when some of these lower rank teams have took the lead against Italy, Netherlands and Belgium. Just get the job the done!

    UEFA EURO 2024

If you look at Palmer’s heat map for Chelsea, his role is basically a second RW for Chelsea. Again, neither are better than Bellingham. I’d justify playing Bellingham as a CM if we played 3-4-3 but not as one of the pivots in a 4-2-3-1.

    UEFA EURO 2024

That and Bellingham’s form for England makes this a pretty open and shut case. If Foden can’t perform at LW, he should be dropped.

    UEFA EURO 2024

Foden is not overrated at all, but he’s struggling to impose himself on the game around Bellingham and Kane. He had moments to influence the game he misplaced passes against Serbia and Iceland - you can’t blame that on Southgate or his position He’s played AM for England before and hasn’t...

    UEFA EURO 2024

I just don’t see the benefit of playing Bellingham deeper in a two when he’s been our best player in the last two tournaments. Bellingham has played all but 4 games this season at AM whereas Foden has played more games as a LW/RW than AM. Iniesta played out of position in LW in the great...

    UEFA EURO 2024

I don’t disagree, but the idea peddled on social media on here is that Foden would magically become the main man if he played CAM. I’m sorry, he hasn’t done this yet in an England shirt and yesterday he had the freedom to roam, especially in that first 30-40m. Bellingham imposed himself on the...

    UEFA EURO 2024

It’s the most important game in the group stage, we beat Serbia and we’re more or less guaranteed to progress to the KO rounds. With Slovenia and Denmark needing a win, we can expect those games to more open up to exploit those teams. We won, job done. Started really well and it’s up to...

    Both under Southgate too.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

On Wales, in 2022 Starmer said the Welsh devolved assembly would be a ‘blueprint for what Labour could do across the country’… Wales is a basket case. It trialled things like the universal basic income and the 4 day working week - both scrapped. Has the highest economic inactivity in the UK and...

Is that relating to rising interest rates?

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Yes, but his bid to win Tory leadership and 2019 GE was to ‘get Brexit done’ and break a constitutional deadlock that was plaguing this country. That was delivered for better or worse.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

You’d think that, but I actually supported Starmer’s bid to become Labour leader. All due respect Pete, well meaning platitudes isn’t enough to get this country (or the West as a whole) out of this rut.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Well, at least the conversation around the NHS won’t dumbed down to ‘it’s all the Tories fault’ and that they have ‘systematically and deliberately underfunded’ the NHS. This prospective Labour government knows it can’t just throw money at the NHS like many people want it to.
  19. Mucca Mad Boys

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The root of it is Starmer’s leadership, in reality he’s a slippery man. Says one thing to get elected by the Labour membership, will say whatever needs to be said to be elected by the country. In reality, there won’t be a clear mandate to change anything meaningful with the majority he’ll have...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

We already know what’s going to follow a Labour government looking at New Zealand and Germany. Starmer definitely tried to model himself on Schloz and maybe even Aldern too. The German economy is the ‘sick man’ of Europe atm and Aldern’s tenure ended in failure; crime, immigration and housing...
