    New Year's Day - 5 points outside the play-offs

And I've always said i would settle for mid-table with a promotion push next year. Going to take time and maybe a change of personnel to get us to be a much better home team. We simply struggle to break teams down.

    Stephen Elliot v Shrewsbury

Sheff was excellent first half. Clear MOTM. By a country mile. He faded second half somewhat, but he wasn't poor by a long chalk.

Happened nearly every home game that against us. We are not good against counter attacking.

And I am putting it down to luck. Many other home games we haven't been good enough. Today we were. More than good enough to win the game by at least 2 clear goals.

    New Year's Day - 5 points outside the play-offs

DMC had a very good chance after 20 seconds. And what about Baker's shot that he hit straight at the keeper in the first half from just outside the 6 yard box? also Adams' from that one two into the 6 yard box. I thought Shrewsbury looked dangerous intermittently. We looked dangerous all game.

    player ratings vs shrewsbury town

CC4L Murphy 5 - poor kicking, lacked urgency, his achillies heel is giving up rebounds and he did again today however im not if he could have done anything different, will wait for the replay. Disagree. thought it was a stunning save. Nowt he could do. 6 from me. Adams - 7 - dealt with his...

    Welcome to the Ricoh

Not about the stadium at all. It's not rocket science. 1. When we are away from home the onus is on the home team to do the pressing. We play on the counter attack and it reaps rewards. 2. At home we are expected to do the pressing, can't counter attack and have difficulty breaking teams...

    New Year's Day - 5 points outside the play-offs

We didn't lose to Portsmouth and Preston. And we only started getting chances after they scored? You sure about that? We had some great chances in the first half. And also the 2nd, before they scored.

Well said that man. I have come home from that match not too disappointed, cos I know if we play like that every week we will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

If he had played then no doubt people would be moaning about Mcgoldrick being left out Exactly. It was a no brainer. You play the league's top goalscorer. That has to come ahead of a bloke who scored two, but just played just the one game for quite a while. Case for bringing Elliot on...

    New Year's Day - 5 points outside the play-offs

Exactly!! Look at the big picture. First defeat for 2 months! Over 20 shots on goal. One off the underside of the bar, one cleared off the line. We know if play like that again we will surely win.

    New Year's Day - 5 points outside the play-offs

We played well though, apart from defensively on a few occasions. Had Sheff's two had gone in (underside of the bar and from that back pass) and we had won everyone would have said it was a very good performance. The goals just didn't go in for us today. I know we should beat these teams, but...

    New Year's Day - 5 points outside the play-offs

Not talking about start of the season. Talking about coming from 4th from bottom. People also said they thought come Jan we could have a chance of the play-offs. Well, here we are. Just saying we should all be happy shouldn't we? Today was just one of those days. Overall I thought we played...

Said that he doesn't know what's happening. Also that there is still a possibility he could stay here and that MR is going to keep in touch with him now he's going back to Forest until it's all sorted one way or another.

Top caller last up. Spurs is irrelevant and the JPT can give the club the boost that we so desperately need. Rest a couple or three against Spurs, focus on Preston on Tuesday.

Christie was poor today. Hard to argue otherwise I feel.

    New Year's Day - 5 points outside the play-offs

We would all have taken that wouldn't we? Played well today for the most part and it was just one of those days. We clearly should have won that match this afternoon. Not much gloom and doom from me today. We had 20+ shots on goal and on another day would have got at least 3 or 4 goals. 5...

    Coventry vs Shrewsbury Match Thread

Our away wins are because we don't have to dictate the tempo and the onus is on the home team to make the running. We play on the counter attack. At home here we are expected to dictate and we can't break teams down cos we're not playing on the counter attack. Nowt to do with the stadium for me.

I was convinced we would win, even when we went 1-0 down. Was still certain we would do it. A mixture of poor finishing, ill-luck and good defending proved our downfall. We still should have won though, no doubt about it.

people turning on the team today is an embarrassment

We should have won and played very well at times. We do look shaky at the back though when players run at us and we have to change the way we play at home, cos it's clearly not working. We struggle to break teams down. Away, that obviously isn't a problem, cos the onus is on the home team to...
