How much will we spend in the summer?

Have a luck at our bench for most of December, it’s been v weak. Against Ipswich we had 2 GKs and 5 defenders on the bench. We comfortably need a squad of 23-25 first team players. That’s without upgrading any positions. Make no mistake about it, you have sign a minimum of 10 players between...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I think lying about why they’d do in government is a pretty good reason to sing it. In the debates when Sunak said ‘Labour will do this, that’, at the time he came across as desperate and petulant. 18 months on, that outburst proved prophetic. This little old nugget:

They can think for themselves and this government has been a disaster. In fact, you'd even agree on this point so not sure why you would even say that. With respect, middle-class lefties tend to be some of the most patronising people I've come across. Have you ever considered that you may...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It's pretty clear that Labour's policies are being driven by the civil service rather than the other way round. Same with the winter fuel allowance. It is embarrassing because they've introduced many policies that have such obviously bad consequences which forces them into a U-turn. If they had...

How much will we spend in the summer?

What do you define as 'sensible'. Spending £100-120m in a summer window isn't exactly profligate. Look at Ipswich, they went back to back promotions, spent a lot and their squad is now comfortably the strongest in the league. My critique of their transfer policy is that they've created a...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

He is truly a hated Prime Minister. The amount of times you hear 'Keir Starmer's a wanker' at the darts and the football is genuinely unheard of. I read a blog that even at the height of the miner's strikes, football fans didn't chant about Thatcher*. *That said, since the 80s there has been an...

How much will we spend in the summer?

Luton didn't really spend anything and their big project was the stadium and the feeling was that they were never going to establish themselves, so why bother? With Coventry, it's a populous one-club city so establishing Premiership status could attract significant investment to grow as a club...

How much will we spend in the summer?

Not in the same way as years gone by. Parachute payment teams have a structural advantage as their premiership spending is subsidised for 1-2 seasons post-relegation. In reality, we've spent £55m over the past 3 summers so it's not really a stretch to bump that up to £100m to stay up in the...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

You say that, but what policies would do this in your view? You can measure how Labour’s anti-business policies have backfired on ‘working people’… private sector redundancies and unemployment is increasing. Likewise, tax rises and inflation directly impact the money in people’s pockets and...

Tactically - Lampard is pretty good

Southgate had experience in the international setup and without opening a can of worms, his record at tournament was far better than his predecessors.

People don’t really think Farage is ‘the answer’, this is a line you keep parroting without really interrogating. Zach Polanski’s Greens are experiencing a bump in the polls for the exact same reason as Farage and Reform. They are both filling a vacuum vacated by the Tories and Labour...

    25/26 January Transfer Window

How does he improve this group? A much inferior goal scoring record than Haji, BTA and Simms. He has some good physical attributes but clearly needs to work on the end product and if we're looking up to the Prem, if anything we should be looking at a 4th striker to displace Haji, BTA or Simms...

    25/26 January Transfer Window

I’d say he was good under Robins, like a few other players, was a casualty of MR not knowing what his best team was and chopping and changing constantly.

He also underperformed his xG and xA numbers, he scored comfortably be a 15 goals and assists winger in this division. Thats what the numbers told us last season (6.39 xG and 5.28 xA) and EMC is currently over performing his xG (4.12) and slightly underperforming the xA marginally (2.19).

    Transfer Rumour Dan Neil

I can see us opting for a CM because the Sheaf sale wasn’t planned. Dan Neil just seem to fit a profile we’d actually be looking at. Right now, I think it’s probably better to consider Eccles an AM and without any wingers, Rudoni and Eccles may end playing more and more. As per Jimmy’s source...

    25/26 January Transfer Window

Nah, he had his peak and because he did nothing in the Prem, I’d avoid. Good player, but he isn’t a younger player who could develop in 2-3 seasons. Lower down the table he’d be a stud in the right environment.

    Transfer Rumour Carl Rushworth

Based on what exactly? Rushworth has saved chances equating to 6.5 goals this season, which is much higher than Vittek and Johansson. 6.5 in xG is comfortably 8-11 goals btw. https://fbref.com/en/comps/10/keepersadv/Championship-Stats

Same with California, internal migration showed that Texas and Florida were the main recipients of people moving from predominantly blue states. California in particular has seen a lot of brain drain to places like Austin.

    25/26 January Transfer Window

I’ll defend Wright because on his day he’s a top striker in this division but believe it was a mistake putting him back in for Simms right away. Whilst what you say is absolutely true, on an individual level, his finishing has been subpar in this stretch of games.
