People who complain about referees are always, without exception, the most boring people in football. So long as they don't deliberately ruin the game (which almost never happens), I have no idea why people spend time and energy droning on about them.

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Demanding that a date for the end of lockdown is "signed in blood" is interesting wording from those Tory MPs, for a decision that could cost hundreds/thousands of lives! Couldn't agree more with the advice to take a break from the media every now and again btw.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

My point is that even if that turns out to be true, it wouldn't define Brexit's ultimate success or failure. Brexit can still become a catastrophic mistake, even if the next few quarters of growth are fine. It could still prove to be strategic brilliance, even if we go into a recession. Brexit's...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Without trying to make the two sides sound equivalent, both the Leave and Remain campaigns were guilty of making dramatic (and incorrect) predictions about the immediate economic impact. Which only served to undercut the historic nature of the decision we were asked to make. The real impact of...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

I think it's silly to expect huge economic shifts that could prove either side right or wrong when we're what, six weeks into Brexit proper? It was a generational question and it will likely take generations to see the effects. The only people I would expect to be satisfied with Brexit's...

Not really, no. They've got it mostly under control and we haven't, so you're far more likely to pick up the virus from someone in your neighbourhood than from someone getting off a flight from Shanghai (who should have been tested before and after) You can't spend all of 2020 demanding that...

We don't play in Coventry or have a stadium plan beyond the next six months, but other than that they're doing OK and sensible I guess

    Biamou - new contract

I swear the goalposts on this debate move so often that we’ll be talking about his lack of headed goals in the playoffs before March.

    Biamou - new contract

Do you know what “flatters to deceive” actually means? There are certain players we’ve had recently who that particular cliche might apply to, but James - by your own admission, a top player - isn’t one of them.

"Hey boss, Coventry have hired a new scout, do you think it would be a good story for tomorrow's paper?" "Yes, but only if it's accompanied by a picture of him at a German Christmas market with the ghost of Peter Reid"

Sizeable minority? The reaction to the stadium announcement on this board was ecstatic. If the club thought they needed to work hard to win over the fans then they needn't have worried - this very board sent them a statement saying how "delighted" we all were within hours of the first press release.

If it exposes a pointless sham for what it is, then it serves a very useful purpose. It's crazy to me that people aren't more skeptical about this project and assume it's a done deal. If we just sit and patiently wait for the next update then that won't change.

Beautiful story. I hope the money makes a difference, it's proper fairytale stuff. But is it a bit weird raising money towards a statue of someone who expressly said they didn't want one?

The stadium situation is the single most important issue to the future of the football club - I think everyone at the club would breathe a very big sigh of relief if the toughest question they got on it was "When can we expect another update?" The fact that we haven't had something more...
