You can use political or religious beliefs to justify anything, but it might well be nonsense, and focusing squarely on that aspect of his motivation might not help you stop the next one. In this particular case I have to wonder whether this attack was designed to elicit a specific reaction...

If his motivation is found to be a catastrophic breakdown in mental health, then personally I would want to look into the reasons behind that and try to stop someone else going down the same hole. But crack on with moaning about Romanian gypsies if you think that’s a better idea.

The simple answer is that he’s a deranged individual, and that any justification he gave would just be a pointless excuse. But that answer doesn’t seem to be sufficient for some people.

I think that while there are reputable sources saying this guy clearly had a strong dislike for Islam, it’s way too soon to say what the motive is behind this.

Can you even remember what your original argument was at this point? You were claiming that Google was pissed off that Trump wanted to cut corporate tax rates in the United States. Now it’s some nonsense about Trump’s tariffs on Google - what specifically would he put tariffs on?

I mean, those are just awful pictures. If the suspect’s identity is correct then the fact it’s a 50 year-old doctor responsible makes it odd to say the least.

No, we shouldn’t make policing decisions for their benefit either - hence these guys getting charged.

Whatever your opinions on the Southport rioters, they shouldn’t be allowed to influence our justice system. Prosecute cases on their own merits, not on whether they’re “rightly or wrongly” likely to inspire racist violence. (The answer is wrongly btw)

Public safety and security is one thing, but I think it sets a dangerous precedent to let “mass public interest” steer how the courts and the police handle individual cases. While the public interest is already enshrined as a judicial principle, that doesn’t extend to letting bad faith actors...
