Match Thread Coventry City - Plymouth Argyle Match Thread - Thursday 26th Dec

I don't think Latibeaudiere is ever going to be a top Championship CB (nor did he have to be today) but he always applies himself to whatever job he's asked to do, despite his limitations. And weirdly I like him for that.

Match Thread Coventry City - Plymouth Argyle Match Thread - Thursday 26th Dec

Reminded me a lot of the Rotherham game at home last season - Plymouth just absolutely nowhere near us. Hard to tell what you can take away from a game like that, but it was an enjoyable afternoon all the same.

You’re going to have to narrow it down

    What on earth happened?

There’s absolutely no point putting an arbitrary time limit on it. If we play like we did against Portsmouth every week then he’ll quite rightly be gone by Easter.

    What on earth happened?

You keep the manager in place until the music stops. For Robins it lasted 7 years, and it was great. If Lampard is stinking the place out after 20 games then I won’t be imploring DK to hold fire just because it costs him less to stick with his own bad appointment.

    What on earth happened?

That’s either noble, foolish or both. If we get relegated then even Lampard himself wouldn’t want him to stay. He’d be cap in hand outside the door of Chelsea or Sky Sports before you could even finish your plea for patience from DK.

    What on earth happened?

If our form under Lampard is as bad as Robins’ last 20 games then we will be relegated. No-one is going to be calling for Lampard to be given time under that scenario.

He gets sent off every dozen or so games, makes huge errors and has been booted out of the side by a younger player who cost half as much. If that’s captain material then yes, it’s plainly ridiculous.

    What on earth happened?

It wasn’t a bad 14 games that got Robins sacked. Rest assured, if Lampard has a run of games as bad as Robins’ last few months, he will be sacked. And he will (quite rightly) be on a much shorter leash.

    What on earth happened?

I think you’re taking Doug King’s words too literally. However much he’d like to dress things up in his end-of-season message to fans, we didn’t seriously compete for the playoffs last year and the start under Robins this year suggested the same. The cup run also wasn’t a criterion for judging...

I’ve no problem with bringing him back into the side but the idea he’s become our captain-in-waiting is a little ridiculous

Never known a player undergo so much rehab to his reputation without even playing!

    What on earth happened?

Well yeah. I was trying to keep it simple for someone who was struggling to get it.

    What on earth happened?

Doug told Robins to get the team in the top 6 and gave him a load of transfer funds to do it. We finished 9th. He got sacked. It’s not much more complicated than that.

    What on earth happened?

It explains the reasoning to counter your argument that Robins was worth keeping in the job because he had the squad performing at a level beyond the sum of its parts.
