Watching the Boro game in Hackney…

True, but only because it’s too expensive these days to get up to much there

    Angus Gunn

If Dovin is out until Christmas then we will need someone who’s capable of being number one the entire season. I think Dovin is a good keeper but there should be no guarantee he gets straight back into the side and it will probably bode poorly for our prospects next season if he does.

    Who would you sell?

For £15m you’d book the most profit on MVE, and he would also be the cheapest to replace. Wouldn’t want to lose any of them, but selling him would be the no-brainer.

Nor should it be the same as it was 20 years ago! There is still individual brilliance to be found everywhere - a broad rise in standards maybe means they stand out less? The idea that players being drilled better makes them robots is a purely subjective thing - personally I prefer watching...

    Championship thread 24/25!

Oh yeah don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty I also don’t like about the game today. And nothing wrong with preferring things the way they used to be. I just don’t like to say that things were objectively better in my day, when the game is clearly coming on leaps and bounds in terms of both...

Why would strikers specifically get worse? Is it not just an evolution of tactics?

The original poster said modern football is pish compared to 10-15 years ago - it’s not, the technical standards are higher and the game is more popular. Finding modern football boring is horses for courses I guess, but I think for the most part it’s just a product of growing up.

Pep-ball was absolutely everywhere 10-15 years ago, we’re literally talking about the era when Spain and Barcelona were winning everything

    Hamer - Championship PotS

My red hot take is that Hamer is one of the best midfielders in the league. There, I said it.

    Final games of old

Yeah there was no penalty save, but there were at least two one-on-ones. Think it was also Sheringham’s last game for Spurs.

Burnley might not finish second I think they’re a regular thing - here’s Derby last year

    Final games of old

Big fan of the Nick Proschwitz Penalty Experience against Crawley ten years ago White Hart Lane in 1997 was absolutely incredible, one of the best relegation escapes ever
