Bobby Thomas to Sheff Utd ?

Maybe but we could have been bidding £8m for Hughes thinking MVE was going which now looks doubtful. If we get Hughes in, then I’d be ok to sell Bobby. But selling BT without replacing him is pants-down territory if Sheff U are after Hughes too. Don’t share your optimism that we’d get Hughes...

Bobby Thomas to Sheff Utd ?

Whatever we might think Thomas is worth, it would be a risk selling him now unless the offer was stupid. £5-8m is not stupidly good. It could help us get Hughes. OK but Tanganga is rated way higher than Thomas, and is arguably the top CB in the champ. IMO would cost £15-20m.. Doyle is a LCB so...

Bobby Thomas to Sheff Utd ?

Bobby would be a loss. Really keen to see if he can kick on this season and iron out the mistakes. And I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Sheff U did buy him, they’d try to get Hughes as well. Doyle’s great but a bit slow and would be a luxury if we needed 2 CBs to cover the right sided berth.

    Would you sell Rudoni?

It only makes sense to sell Rudoni to Southampton if MVE interest has died and funds are needed to bring in 2 or 3 targets. But if MVE is off, selling a player of Rudoni’s importance for £10-15m to strengthen a rival would be gutting for me. If Newcastle came for him, I’d understand a bit more.

    Would you sell Rudoni?

I remember him being annoying AF celebrating in front of us when we lost 4-0 at home to Stoke a couple of years ago. Ok on the ball but very lightweight and totally out of his depth in the prem. If we did sign him, the only plus would be that we’d have an excuse to try and sign Rob Holding as...

    Ex Player Reactions

IIRC after his efforts for us in League 1, Walsh was recalled by Bristol City who took up an option to extend his contract. When they did end up releasing him. It was known that his partner was settled in Bristol and he didn’t want to move. Did we actually try to sign him again before he joined...

I disagree. It can work but the left-footed RCB has to be very competent, confident and comfortable on their right side. Ideally, you have a Left footer and a right footer but scarcity of left footed CBs means that many right footed CBs have spent years through all levels of football playing LCB...

    Ex Player Reactions

Agree with you about the importance of O’Hare and Walsh. But you lost me when you reduced Hamer’s contribution to ‘achieved nothing’.

If we lose MVE, we need someone to cover RB that isn’t Lati IMO. Also not convinced by him as a CB in a back 4. Don’t hate the guy but I think he was recruited for a system we no longer play and doesn’t really fit anywhere now.

Interesting to see him as right CB (think he played there v Luton last season when Lati went off). Looked good although I’m sure it would get targeted if we started doing it regularly. Ideally need another player in who can cover RCB and RB.

    Brad Collins

Has anyone checked Collins’ betting activity? Just a joke (I think) On a serious note, once a keeper gets spooked, it can take a year or two to recover any kind of confidence. (E.g.Leighton, Karius) I hope he’s ok and can rebuild his career (as long as he’s not chucking matches) but he just...

    Championship thread 24/25!

Norwich play Cardiff last day of season which means that one time Arsenal wonderkids Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey will be the opposing managers. That’s enough to make me feel a bit old.

    Highfield Road 1967

As Hobo said, most of the old signs were thick and ornate things, presumably cast-iron. Often mounted at high level on the walls of the first available brick wall in the street. I grew up near HR but can’t remember all the sign locations tbf. I would guess yours isn’t from Cov as the font and...

Match Thread Luton Town - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 26th Apr

Bidwell can play LCB and actually, as pointed out above, could be a reasonable shout to start. It’s a bit left heavy though. If something happened to Lati, you’re looking at drafting MVE or Sheaf in as RCB, assuming Thomas isn’t ready yet.

    Sheff Utd at it again

You could argue they are entitled to celebrate in their ground including on their way to tunnel although I do think they might have lingered a bit in front of the away section 😉

    Sheff Utd at it again

Yeah and he wondered why Plymouth wanted to celebrate in front of Sheff U after he said they were bottom for a reason. It’s such transparent manufactured bullshit from Wilder. Needs a proper dose of football Karma.

    Brad Collins

I get what you’re saying but the defence do sometimes have good games. Often the individuals can look good and in a few games they have looked ok as a collective. There are many problems with Collins now. The biggest one is that he is so shot that he will likely crumble under any pressure...

    Grimes Sheaf Rudoni

I was out all day yesterday and not in a position to write much. But the idea that a stranger came on a football forum to pick me up on my use of slang was too funny for me at times.

    Not normally one to bleat…

Styles had two arms round Saka and bundled him over. Not the worst I’ve seen but you are asking for a card doing that. When on a yellow already (having also got away with one), it’s utter madness and the bloke then gives it the old victim routine afterwards…. Whatever you think of the BBC, it’s...
