I think Lampard is just stubborn when it comes to using his squad sometimes. You may be right - if so, I would question why we think we’d get it right this time though.
Slightly odd that the same people crying out for massive squad turnover in the transfer window thread are in here fretting about massive squad turnover in this one.
I understand the questions raised at having such streaky form but very few teams in this division should be sacking their manager for finishing third, and we are not one of them imo
Tactics? Squad rotation? Training?
Maybe I’m wrong and we’ll buy Onyeka and another centre half on Monday and everything’s magically fixed without changing another thing.
Unlike you, I can foresee ways for our form to improve that don’t involve just signing whatever player you’ve fallen in love with on the internet this week - so, yes?
That’s a total fantasy I’m afraid. We’re not going to solve this by just buying a new player in whichever position played badly last week. This is on Lampard to fix, not Doug King.
Excited to see what Eccles can bring in a deeper role. Combined with Sakamoto’s work rate out of possession, it’s a lot more conservative (in theory) than what we’ve seen in recent weeks. A lot of options off the bench if we need to ramp things up too.
