Top 100 Cov players of all time

Fair point. I think I'll just assume the list was sorted by putting names in an old Quality Street tin and pulled out at random.

Top 100 Cov players of all time

Maybe, but I've never seen Pele play and would probably still put him in the top 100 footballers of all time. We can be influenced by the expectation of others. If he's read that TH was our best player enough times, he could believe it without ever seeing it with his own eyes.

Top 100 Cov players of all time

Putting aside the numerous lols that this list has caused me, there's clear recency bias. Pretty much our entire first team from last season is in there. It's just a bit silly. And there's players like Dennis Wise (our 36th best player ever, apparently), when he only played a handful of games...

    98th best in the world

Used to enjoy fivethirtyeight forecasts, but they laid off a number of staff and don't update the football side of it now. If anyone knows of a similar site then let me know.

Match Thread Hull (A) Friday 15th September

Spoke to him at the Watford game and he said he was back in full training in 2 weeks, so I'd assume it's too soon for him yet

    Ellis Simms Going Forward

I keep repeating this point, and it will soon become moot, but at the moment Godden plays because he knows what the manager expects (plus his form, it should be added) Watch a game back and you'll see him pointing at who Wright or Simms should be tracking, or waving them up to press, or to...

    Evan Ferguson

Interesting, thanks. Every day's a school day. But not sure I like that rule really, as it probably only helps the 'bigger' countries.

I always thought a player could swap as long as he hadn't played a competitive game?

    Match Thread Watford (h)

Agreed, we're usually very good at minimising space. In the past, when we've had a couple of games this open, MR has changed the formation or roles to tighten it up. I'm expecting him to give it another couple of games as it's a new group, but if it stays the same then I wouldn't be surprised if...

    Injuries

I'm not sure what the back of the leg right under an arse cheek is technically called.

    Injuries

Oh, Jamie Allen back in full training in 2 weeks, Callum O'Hare a week or two behind.

    Injuries

MvE had a niggle under his right buttock and went into the cryo chamber after the game but not believed to be serious. JDS was in a moon boot, but after the game was telling the other players it wasn't that bad, so assume it's precautionary. Wasn't aware of Palmer's injury.

It was comedy gold. The big screen replays of it got almost as many cheers as the goal itself. I thought their keeper's positioning was very odd all game, tbh.

    Match Thread Watford (h)

MvE had to backtrack several times because Gooden and Wright both drifted over to the left and failed to offer him an option. Once we get that sort of thing sorted we could be ok. While I'm on the subject of the forwards, thought Wright was a mixed bag today. Some great turns and runs, but also...

    Match Thread Watford (h)

One of the most bizarre games I've been to. Thought Da Silva was excellent and MvE very good until both of their injuries. Sadly Eccles wasn't at the races and probably should have been replaced earlier. Watched Lati a bit closer today, and he doesn't look comfortable on the left; he's doing a...

    Transfer targets

It still blows my mind that he started for England before he'd even started a league match for Chelsea - he'd only ever come off the bench before his international debut.

    Rob Gurney

Bit harsh, pal. He's changed a lot since he started. At first he was very unattached to the club and was just as excited at us conceding as scoring, but now he's almost as sky blue as the rest of us. I've listened to a lot of away ifollow commentary since lockdown, and it might be hard to...

    Rob Gurney

I really enjoyed Rob Gurney's commentary, but at times he seemed to be really downbeat during games - being a fan when your team is playing shit is bad at the best of times, and I don't think he was able to keep his emotions in check. I distinctly remember a game when Tony Cottee scored 2 or 3...

    Transfer targets

He's only 31, but way past his best. Whenever we sign someone over 30 (not often nowadays, tbf) I always think of Tim Sherwood and shudder. And Arjan De Zeuuw. Old players living off their past reputation.

Just a reminder that we were bottom of the league at this point last season.
