    Sam McCallum Confirmed

i really like this side of the club atm. Difficult to compete with PL academies so taking on these promising 18/19 yr olds and giving them to Farndon for a year or two is a solid policy. Only need to hit a couple and it's good business.

Don't get that. Was playing well (from memory) then just seemed to drop out of the picture after an injury lay-off Can throw the bat as well.

I agree. Too many players and spread across too many formats of the game. Over rotation particularly in CC. you'd think there would be a 1stXI that only altered slightly for pitch conditions etc.

struggling to follow recent recruitment policy. seems to be players who can do a bit in all forms of the game rather than being strong in one particular facet (red ball or white ball) Bring in Sibley a middle order batsman (averaging under 30 in over 40 CC games) and try and convert him into an...

So Pope for Malan. is in form in CC so it's how progression to Test side should work. Just 15 CC games is still making it a big step-up. But these kids seem fearless atm.Batting order to be shuffled as he tends to bat at 6? Can't help thinking India will bring in Pujara to bring in a...

That's a terrific test match. Do like a low scoring Test. 2 quality attacks, mixed Batting, fielding brilliance & dross mixed in, not a bad wicket adding up to a great Test. Thought they'd thrown it away with 2nd innings but pulled it out the bag. Now to Lords and how do they cover Stokes...

So character building statement win for which side today? All about Kohli or will someone else stand up? Desperately need an early wicket or else India will just tickle along to win.

Still got to pinpoint Kohli drops as key for this game and possibly the series.

Sometimes it's just a joy to watch Anderson when he's on it (even if he is wicket less atm thanks to Malan)

Wondering how much the captaincy is a difference between 2 sides. Morgan seems very positive, organised and in firm control of one day side. Don't think you can say the same about Root. Still key issue is depth strength. There are a lot of players in line for one day side who wouldn't...

    City fans negative mindset

i think we'll be all right. McNulty is a miss not just for his goals but we are capable of playing some good football. should be reasonably tight at the back and have forward players that can create.

nope the spin cupboards empty. Bess & Leach 9 & 5 wkts respectively in CC so far this season. Think Virdi at Surrey only qualified spinner with more than 20 wkts this season (from 8 games). Moeen's got 8 from the 1 game (even Root's got 5). Still seamers taking all the wickets this season even...

Just seems to be a correlation between the increasing number of fitness /conditioning / strength coaches a professional sports team employs and an increase in number of injuries. Also noticeable how many of these injuries happen outside match situations.

bit of a stretch but the great West Indies side had that conveyor belt of astonishing quicks and from memory all of them were natural athletes rather than manufactured in a gym. Again bowled a lot more overs than the current lot do. They'd have their Test series and most of them a full county...

something has to be wrong with the preparation of quicks in general - not just here Australia had a lot of the same problems. Possibly similar to football when the continuing shift towards almost body builder physiques seems to have increased the number of muscular-related injuries. It's like...
