Football gets stuck in a rut.Recycling the same managers again and again or bringing in foreign coaches. 20 out of 44 PL & Championship clubs have non_British managers. Have to expect that any vacancy at these clubs and you're competing with the top coaches in Europe not just "white British...

16 year old murdered in Wood End

System also falls down by the ridiculous % of cases that don't get solved or the CPS decides not to prosecute. Also needs to be a proper totting up process - maybe not as extreme as some US states 3 and out- whereby each conviction has an automatic increase in length of custodial sentence...

16 year old murdered in Wood End

Terrible waste of a young life particularly over something so trivial. When we were kids there were occasional punch-ups between the different schools but nothing involving these callous levels of violence. It's a long list of where the system is failing. Under-staffed and under-funded schools...

A good result but still questionable performance in beating the Packers. Defence finally healthy. But yet again big offensive yards but very little redzone possession and only 1 for 3 when we got there. (Packers 2 for 2). For all the numbers it was still a single score game.

BTW terrific effort from the women's side last night - even more so considering 2 of their best players have missed whole tournament

Gotta love it. What building a squad rather than a team is all about. YJB back in and scores a century. Think he was extra motivated to prove a point? :) Reckon others are now thinking they've got to perform to keep their place rather than think "it's my place until I get injured or something"...

McCoy is a bigger risk taker than Smith. But some poor calls - pass interference on the one interception and a truly dreadful miss on that helmet hit on Reid.

My bad memory. Dug the programme out. Remember it now because Mabbutt got the Spurs goal. Lovely irony.

    Memorable Sky Blue debuts...

David Speedie cleaning out Peter Reid in Charity Shield. Player who everyone used to hate and people didn't want joining us. Charged around like maniac getting stuck in. Scored on his league debut at Wednesday ??. Loved Speedie - aggressive but not short on ability/skill.

At university with a group of guys from university of minnesota. Year twins won World series (can't stand baseball). So started following us sports but only liked football. We would go to Lakenheath to watch live screenings. visited them regularly and went to vikings games - still in regular...

"Looking ahead to the ashes I’d be stunned if Jennings was to Ave over 20 with the bat with his technique v pace!" If it gets to the stage where he has an average in the Ashes then the system is broken :)

Time to build a squad. Been brave enough to pick a side for Sri Lankan conditions which meant dropping a senior fast bowler. England of old would have tried to push Root as the 3rd spinner and played another quick or extra batsman. Now carry it through and continue to pick best XI for each...

No surprises with selection. Wonder whether Bairstow pick is to keep him happy or the best option to balance the side for the match.

McCoy was a classic example of a College QB from a high pass-based system. Almost like a College Cousins threw huge yards but also turned over the ball a lot. Problem is he is just a back-up (although nicely paid to do so 8m a year) and also has often backed up some pretty weak starters. You may...

That was just ridiculous. Points being scored at such a rate teams didn't have time to run the ball. Again a couple of highlight reel plays by Rams defenders made the difference. I know the focus on the QBs but that is 2 incredible sets of receivers in terms of catching and route running...

my bad. He's cleared waivers so is available at a reduced rate but would still be a huge risk with his injury situation.

Need to create a good pocket for Bradford as needs a bit of time to get rid of the ball but was very good for us. But isn't the issue with Bradford that there is a hefty 2nd year left on his deal 20m+ if he is picked up during the season.
