The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

What i find extraordinary is that we have Labour activists trying to replace so-called moderate MPs with what they term "corbynistas". When you try to adapt a party to its leader or an individual you're treading on thin ice - did we learn nothing from Thatcherism? Aren't we seeing atm how an...

so the doctor ends up doing nothing and the patient looks for 2nd/3rd etc opinions which is basically where your analogy takes us to now.

Sad state of affairs now that MPs officially warned by deputy speaker to take extra personal security measures due to current situation. Don't travel alone, don't walk take taxis etc

again this is another group with diverse viewpoints - diehard remainers, leavers who don't like the leave option on offer etc. Still difficult to get majority support with public or Parliament. Commentators currently saying still more chance of No Deal than Article 50 being revoked. But much...

A doctor has years of training based on fact for a specific role. Politicians don't. Can a doctor force a patient to take his/her advice? In that relationship doctor can advise but patient will decide.

Has to be a part of the problem. Any organization, group, partnership should have clear exit routes whether they are attractive or unattractive. Quit your job, you don't get severance pay or break this contract, you don't get paid etc.

The mixed messages coming out of Brussels from senior figures there highlight how unclear this whole extension process is. Some even proposing a referendum has to be part of it. One surefire way to get a Brexit leave vote again is to have Brussels enforce a referendum rather than it coming from...

Politicians didn't have a clear idea of how difficult it would be to implement. Nobody heard the diverse leave or remain messages just ' leave or remain' Still a clear majority in Parliament to follow referendum just not on how to. All parties fear a backlash if the refendum isn't delivered or...

That's the issue. Who is the burden on - govt, parliament, the electorate. May's ridiculous belief that she can stir the public to put pressure on the politicians to get her way is desperate beyond belief. Even with a Parliament still prepared to take us out how are they going to find a...

Always reminds me of that Yes Minister episode on why countries are in the EU. :) Can't compare a federal Europe to the US.

Your 1st sentence is the killer - "at the moment ". Exactly what many Leavers didn't like and many across Europe don't like. This wave of feeling that the ultimate goal of Brussels is a federal superstate.

The PM's conduct puts parliament's long-term vitality in peril Interesting piece on what we've been seeing. Re watched her speech and the image of her walking away perfect metaphor of her self-created isolation

No deal was not binding. No deal is still a backstop if EU don't extend. Parliament still has to deal with the No deal issue formally if May deal fails and there is no extension.

Nice try but you're weakly arguing from a UK point of view. European view is they want it done as they need to move on. Not prepared to change their election laws to accommodate something that isn't even guaranteed. Would almost certainly be vetoed by a number of EU states. They aren't going to...

Not straight forward. Would take us past EU elections. Don't knows are dangerous as they swayed last referendum in late stages. EU would want a much clearer picture of referendum outcome. Another leave vote still doesn't make things that much clearer as Parliament still wouldn’t have a consensus...

Trend has been as young grow up and get jobs, start families they move from idealism to pragmatism in their voting choices. Buying council houses was a good example of this. Swapping the principle of housing for all to becoming home owners. Education becomes a key issue for those that have kids...
