There was a good analysis of the difference between the two advertising strategies I saw. Labour spent a lot on a few adverts and they mostly were designed to fire up the base. The Tories did what we do at work which is spend a little on a lot of test ads then double down on the ones that work...

It’s Facebook that Labour are poor at. Has an older and larger demographic. Also targeted advertising is a very different strategy to simply getting stuff trending on Twitter which is where Momentum’s strengths are. The world moved on basically.

Exactly. Not good for either, but also happening to both so not a reason for the massive defeat.

Sorry, are we talking about the Tory party who former PMs and chancellors were telling anyone who’s listen not to vote for them? Of course division is never good in a party, but in the list of things we did badly it’s near the bottom well below listening to voter concerns, targeting seats...

I’m hoping the reduced capacity compared to a “big game” at the Ricoh means there’s fewer day trippers shouting forward and asking why we don’t bring McSheffrey on, it may be a naive hope but there you go.

It’s so frustrating. Was at a meeting last night where someone said “the most important people are the membership” I wanted to scream at him. I didn’t join the party to help make a bunch of middle class graduates lives slightly easier!

Momentum is a campaigning and activist organisation. Not the same thing. Winning elections is about a lot more than ground game.

This is why I’m saying take one, incontrovertible thing to attack at a time. The more front you open up an argument on at once the less any of your points gain support. Reasonable means assuming the best and letting people show themselves if that’s not the case rather than going in accusing...

They do. You need something like 5% of members to support IIRC. I posted it before, have a read of the constitution.

Its about defying expectations I guess. If people assume we are a bunch of angry trolls on the internet then we show we are reasonable and focused. The more conjecture we introduce and the wider we cast out net in terms of targets the less any individual point is taken seriously.

Im not talking about the high minded argument on here. I’m talking tactically about getting people to listen. The hypothetical arguments are for here, we have to be aware that we come across as a bunch of weirdos in their bedroom because we are anonymous and online and need to show credibility...

Was having this chat with a guy at CLP last night. The Tories are an election winning machine and no less focused on their ideological goals for it. We could learn a lot from them.

You guys need to stick to the facts here. Not your theories as to why people have done what they’ve done. Anti council cranks are ten a penny and not newsworthy. If you’ve got proof, prove it, you’ve already got a credibility problem by being anonymous internet users. Charging round calling...

Equally supported by Brexit. Labour got a lot of Remain votes it otherwise wouldn’t have. We need to listen to what people are telling us dude. Corbyns changed the party for the better in many ways, we have a large membership as you say and the current slate is more left than any I can...

I had a mate once who said his missus offered him a threesome and he turned it down because “I’m not sure I could fulfil two women”. This is a very similar situation. Regardless of whether you think you can manage it, you give it a go.

It’s back little surprised we sold out. We could’ve sold a lot more. Had to sacrifice 6k seats for safety but overall satisfied. Haven’t looked into how many are first time at Andrews fans but we will. Hope any newbies enjoy it and come back. Hope we can progress further and it’s a great game...
