Is that just for this period though? Didn’t City say the three weeks alone would cost £400k? You could be taking about £100m+ all in. Peanuts compared to some of the sums thrown around. Obviously Championship teams will be a lot more expensive. Call it £250m? Worth it from government to save...

On a serious note, have you seen the BBC are planning to put out more educational content aimed at year groups? Hope it can take at least some of the strain. Everyone’s in the same boat and what’s the point of a national curriculum if you can’t have shared resources. Hope everyone in school...

It’s not been for nothing mate. You know that. It’s about more than the grade at the end and 4/5 of your classes will be back next year. If I were you I’d go full bad supply teacher for the next two days, get the DVDs and games on, then get plastered, don’t even think about marking or planning...

I can only imagine mate. There are days I wish I was still teaching, this is not one of them. Know you’re valued, and don’t forget to look after yourself as well as the kids.

Yes! And warehouse workers. The real backbone of this country are a host of hard working people with little workplace protections. I really hope they’re remembered in the aftermath of this.

£50m in advanced payments and interest free loans for clubs, then hoping the govt will help. Any finance bods got some fag packet maths for how much it’s cost to keep the EFL 72 going for 2-3 months?

Let’s be honest. There isn’t any point. Your job for the next few months is babysitting not education. Speaking of which, will they keep the skeleton service open over holidays? Do they have that power? Not sure what they’ll do over Easter/summer otherwise. I assume most people will be relying...

People proving to be worth far more than they’re paid: cleaners, care workers, healthcare workers, teachers, delivery drivers. People proving to be worth far less: politicians, CEOs, edgy newspaper columnists

Are teachers children exempt? That’s some pure bullshit. Amazon drivers yes, the people running the “babysitting” (as BBC called it), no. And yes this is mostly because I don’t want to have to watch them and work from home. There goes my productivity.

Predicted grades are just one data point though. For Uni apps yes it’s just teachers guessing (though that kind of change without the kid shitting all over his exam paper is pretty unlikely, at least back when the grading system was letters like you’re saying), but you’ve got mocks, FFT data...

Why wouldn’t you? Frankly 2/3 through Y11/13 you’ve got enough data to make a reasonable guess. Applications will have been in for medical school long ago and offers made based on predictions.

Let’s be blunt here. No one gives a shit once you’re on to your next step. Could give out official estimates grades based on mocks/completed work whatever for CVs and application forms.

Are exams definitely cancelled? There goes my exam marking work and with it the holiday with the kids (not that it was likely to happen anyway but still). Maybe I should tell them now while they’re still happy about no school (unless children of teachers are in? Have they done a list of key...

Fucks sake. First Jeremy Hunt, now Gary Neville. I’ll have no one left to dislike by the end of this. In all seriousness. Outstanding gesture. Veil is coming off, you’re just there for childcare, education is secondary. Feel for you guys man. Any word on the ground of how it’s going to work...

Im guessing we wanted to try asking nicely first and have looked at traffic/footfall data and seen it’s not working if so. No one seems to be taking it seriously. Might be London only at first. I’ve heard that rumour.

NHS capacity is absolutely the key figure. Will determine both mortality rate and when we are likely to come in/out of lockdown. I assume it’s not published anywhere though?
