@Sick Boy whats the economic situation over there like at the moment? Are there many reports of poverty increases or businesses going bust yet?

Oh no, totally. And China being China certainly didn’t help, don’t get me wrong. It’s a perfect example of why their bullshit needs to stop. But to say (as I believe some in government have) that we weren’t prepared because we believed their numbers seems a little naive at best.

Classic deflection. Are they the best food? I think the Tories are an election winning machine, doesn’t make em any good at governing.

Equally though, surely Western governments know not to trust Chinese numbers? Seems an easy scapegoat.

Im sure you had that impression but it’s absolute bollocks. Maybe don’t believe everything the Tory press sell you.

As I posted earlier, New Labour also didn’t take pandemic prep seriously enough at the end of their tenure. I’m just not sure shouting at Alan Johnson has much point right now.

Funny how those that have an issue with people scoring political points can’t shut up about Corbyn as if he was relevant to how well the government perform.

You realise who has been in power the last ten years right? People aren’t complaining about the Tories because they’re mean old lefties, but because they’re actually in charge. And considering the Tories have been more completely taken over by their looney fringe than Labour ever were (case in...

That’s exponential growth. Question: I want you to mow my lawn every day for the next 31 days. Would you rather have £1m up front, or 1p today and I double it for the next 31 days (2p on day 2, 4p on day 3, etc)? You might be surprised that you’d earn twenty times as much with the latter method.

Hows this? Apparently your risk from dying from CV is the same as your risk from dying anyway over the next year. So you should be no more worried about CV than you would’ve been doing your normal life over the next year.

Firstly, this is neither a cold nor a flu. Pedantry aside, how would you explain the low mortality rate if it’s been spreading for month that only now has shot up to expected levels?

Figures are up to 5pm the day before. So this is Sun 5 - Mon 5 today. Monday is Sat-Sun and so on. The theory I have, though aware those better in the know like @MalcSB disagree, is that for various reasons numbers are lower at the weekend. Which is quite normal in a lot of datasets.

God knows. I’m generally looking to Italy to see how they’re getting on and it doesn’t look good (have we had their numbers today?). I’m really hoping we see a slowdown after this week that suggests social distancing is working.
