It just doesn't inspire, Nick. It's dull, uninmaginative, overused and the point is if you wish to start something up from scratch then surely you want to get all the basics right from the start. How long did it take to conjure up this name? 2.4 seconds? Thinking about it, I quite like Godiva...

Table tennis, yes. Number 5. Just 2 more to go.

Bottom line is though, do you want people to come or not? If City fans think about it and have the choice of Sphinx or this new club, then I think most will choose Sphinx. Same colours and a name that they can associate with the city of Coventry. United lacks imagination and holds no...

    Coventry United FC

I'm Keresley. Westwood Heath much closer.
  5. Otis

    Coventry United FC

Which is a very fair point. Westwood Heath appeals to me as it is closer than going over to the back end of Binley Road.

    Coventry United FC

Yes indeed. It would be ideal for me. Supporting City from afar and actually going to watch a local team with fresh ideas.

They are updating it at the mo so you will also be able to buy Walsall shirts and merchandise at the same time.

    Coventry United FC

Good call, Stu of course, but there is something exciting in starting a new club from scratch. It then gives the fans some input into which way to go with it.

    Coventry United FC

I think you'll find Coventry Sphinx aren't a rival, they still play in sky blue though.
  10. Otis

    Coventry United FC

Yes, course we realise that. If you are creating something new though then don't call it 'United.' I really think if you come up with a new name you will have a much better following. United just is so overused and any City fans who do go will not be chanting 'United' I feel.
  11. Otis

    Coventry United FC

Yep. The fans have spoken. It's not about being a rival, it's about City fans feeling some sense of identity.

    Coventry United FC

I'm more annoyed with the name than the colours. The colours aren't quite so important, but if they had blue then City fans could go up in their sky blue.
  13. Otis

    Coventry United FC

Yep and like I say, it could be just a stop gap. I will never stop supporting CCFC. It's just that I won't be attending matches for the next 3 years.
  14. Otis

    Coventry United FC

Why? You can still support CCFC. It's not an either or. If I went up, I would go but have the radio tuned in to CWR so I could listen to the City game at the same time. This wouldn't mean you have to stop supporting the City. And for many, if and when CCFC came back to Coventry they could...

    Coventry United FC

It would put me right off going and it also breaks the link. You would surely want City supporters who are disillusioned with CCFC to go up. If so, what better way than to have some link with that identity.

    Coventry United FC

http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Coventry_City/Coventry_City.htm Coventry is blue, blue, blue!! And mostly sky blue too. And by being blue you would have fans going up who would be able to wear their sky blue colours, scarves and shirts too.
  17. Otis

    Coventry United FC

Totally agree with the last two points. United is just not going to be popular at all and why red? It should at least incorporate some sky blue or blue in it.
  18. Otis

    Coventry United FC

    Yes, agree.

I'll do a deal with you. Tell them to change the name and I will go! ;)

Nope. These missing 3 surprised me a little too to be honest.
