As if you wouldn’t have been on here crying racism if he hadn’t sacked her.

We have, and I’m so glad Labour is back on the menu, we’ve missed a good row with only race, Brexit and Corona to talk about. :D Nancy Astor was widely praised across the spectrum and in the media despite her historic views. You gotta read the room, you do get less latitude when you’re from the...

Yeah and it’s used both ways, see sections of the Muslim community with the Tories. Race and identity in general have become a massive political football and no one knows how to deal with accusations because there’s such a fuzzy fine line between offensive and not. What do you do if someone...

Jewish people, especially the organisations tend to be quite conservative and happy to beat Labour with any stick handy TBH.

Politics is about image not facts. Offence is taken not given, some people are offended by it, or pretending to be. You might think their reasoning is weak, and I’d agree, but here we are. We know the media and opposition and major Jewish groups will use it so you’ve got to get rid. What’s...

If Labour start promising to roll back the state, especially with the current economic crisis, I’ll be right with you against them. But I’ve seen no hints that’s likely.

It was what could be done legally without a time consuming legislature change and if that’s the best evidence you have for them being pro austerity it’s pretty weak. Starmer is on the left of the party, stop fighting shadows.

That was even weaker. It was Nancy Whatsherface the first woman MP to take her seat she was celebrating. Who was an antisemite but hardly current or clear cut considering the prevailing views at the time.

She didn’t say that. What she said was: "Nobody should be under any illusions that they are going to be able to live a life on benefits under a Labour government," she said. "If you can work you should be working, and under our compulsory jobs guarantee if you refuse that job you forgo your...

Nearly drowned learning when I was little and avoided pools like the plague, also chlorine used to set my asthma off so always got out of swimming at school. Now I’m 39 and like fuck am I going to adult swimming classes.

To be clear. I hate beaches, I’m pasty and fat and can’t swim, but you tell the kids that.

Maybe. Found it on one of many random trips out picking a beach on the map and heading for it.

Having read up more in this thread than before I’ll happily modify that. I thought the conspiracy was that those specific cops were trained to kill George Floyd, as opposed to “they learned Krav Maga” which is what it seems. I think you’re right that it’s not particularly offensive in that...

That article was from 10th June. I don’t think there’s a conspiracy here. Just a twitchy new leader, a careless SC member, and a whole load of disingenuous outrage on all sides.

OK I really don’t care one way or another and this is me on auto argue so gonna leave it after this (maybe), but I’m guessing what they teach police isn’t straight up Krav Maga but some subset used for policing specifically. And in that they don’t say “if you’re arresting someone stick your knee...

But as I posted they deny teaching the knee on neck move. I’m already far deeper into this than I care to be TBH. Just trying to provide some context.

What about a beachside pub with toilets? There’s one in Cornwall that was great, beach went right up to the tables outside so you can have a pint and the kids can build sandcastles. Best of all worlds.

Im not disagreeing with you, I think it’s weak but I can see why Jews are twitchy about left wing people bringing Jews into something and I can see why Labour are twitchy about letting things go no matter how small.
